Review and 'Mark Ready' by January 15th!

January 15th is the deadline for High School fairs in ALL REGIONS to upload and submit paperwork to mahs.zfairs.com for approval.*

Projects must be 'Marked Ready' by teachers to be assigned to a reviewer.

Students should upload paperwork in advance of January 15th to give teachers time to review, approve, and click the check box by this deadline.

Teachers: DO NOT mark projects ready if forms are missing or incomplete.

Signatures from teachers, supervisors, sponsors, students, and parents must be included on forms to be considered complete.

If you have trouble uploading documents please let us know. We can help.

Please watch the tutorials below. Schedule a call with us if you need help.

There is a tight turnaround before the regional fairs.

Thank you for helping this move quickly.

*If you have a school fair after January 15th and need an extension on this deadline, you must request in advance at src@scifair.com.

Statewide Review

Remember that all high school paperwork is currently in the statewide review site at mahs.zfairs.com. If you log in and can't find student paperwork connected to your account, please make sure you are on this statewide review site. You shouldn't be using the regional site or the state fair site yet.

Accounts will be moved to the regional sites in mid-February. Details to follow.

What happens next?

When paperwork has been submitted, MSEF starts by conducting an initial review. We look for...

Are all the forms submitted?

  • Submitted forms must include signatures and check boxes in the correct locations to avoid delays.
  • Submitted forms must be legible. Check to make sure they are not too blurry, pixellated or incomplete.
  • If you are having trouble with uploads, please contact us. We can help.
  • If applicable, Form 1C or Form 7 forms are not due until February (deadline set by regional fair).

Have the teachers checked the box to 'Mark Ready' for review?

  • Please do not check this box unless you have personally reviewed the project and all the necessary forms are submitted.
  • Projects cannot be assigned without this checkbox checked.
  • DO NOT check this box unless forms are complete and signed. If we review and they are not complete, it is time consuming to circle back.

Volunteer SRC Review Committee

Next, we assign the project to one of our volunteer reviewers who represent a range of scientific fields. They may ask for clarification, additional forms, or approve right away.

  • Help us communicate with students that this back-and-forth is a normal part of scientific planning and will benefit their project.
  • When students make changes to paperwork, students should email src@scifair.com and we will alert the reviewers.

When approved, the projects will be green on your teacher dashboard.

Students will have a banner on the top of their paperwork page, like this:

The deadline for all final paperwork and remaining projects is January 15th at mahs.zfairs.com.

Email src@scifair.com if you have any questions.

Paperwork and project approval is essential for student safety and scientific integrity, as well as an important part of any scientific endeavor. Thank you for your dedication, for navigating new systems, and for asking questions when needed.
