We are launching a social media campaign to encourage everyone to wear masks in public. Please send us a selfie or other photo of you, your family, and/or your colleagues wearing masks and tell us who you are "masking up" for (your patients, your family, an at-risk friend, etc). Let's share with the public why physicians encourage and participate in universal masking during this pandemic. Please send your photos to [email protected].

UPCOMING VIRTUAL EVENTS

CMS will hold their Offices Hours call for hospitals, health systems, and physicians this evening, Thursday, May 21 at 5:00 pm.

Senator Ben Cardin will hold a Facebook live discussion reopening and COVID-19 testing with Jennifer Nuzzo, MD, from the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. The video will also be made available on YouTube.

CMS will host Lessons from the Front Lines tomorrow, Friday, May 22 at 12:30 pm. FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn, MD, will discuss COVID-19 therapeutics and other topics will be discussed.

On Tuesday, May 26 at 4:00 pm, the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is holding a webinar on Maryland's Road to Recovery and the Data Behind It featuring Joshua Sharfstein, MD, of the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health and Craig Behm from CRISP.

Circumferential Canal Surgery: A Brief History

Most microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures bypass outflow resistance residing proximally in the trabecular meshwork and inner wall of Schlemm's canal. A novel procedure combining trabeculotomy with viscodilation adds to this by also addressing distal resistance of the canal and collector channel ostia. This review examines the development and evidence for both trabeculotomy and canaloplasty separately and the combination in a single procedure.

Covid 19 has caused a tumultuous disruption to our eye care system. We may never return to the same milieu as we were in January 2020. Dr. Robin will discuss the surveyed trends of patient’s attitudes towards health care providers in addition to their beliefs regarding their return to medical care. He will offer suggestions on how to now broach patients, how to prioritize patient care, how to best organize one’s return to work and how to best disinfect the office and equipment. He will supply important resources.

MSEPS Presents a CME Webinar: OCT Imaging: Basic Interpretation and Clinical Applications Webinar

June 11, 2020 7pm

An analysis and interpretation of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging is critical for the diagnosis, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment response in retinal disease. This lecture will review the fundamentals of OCT interpretation and highlight the characteristic OCT features of common diseases. Basic OCT angiography interpretation will also be reviewed. Participants can earn 1 CME Credit.
