Jr. Student Athletes with Academic Goals (Jr. SWAG) Launch | | Jr. SWAG is officially in session. We are proud to launch our first cohort with an exciting and immersive introduction to the world of medicine. Students received a unique behind-the-scenes look at healthcare careers, including a hands-on session with a detailed brain model that sparked thoughtful conversations with our guest speaker. From exploring how the brain functions to learning about the cardiovascular system and how the heart keeps the body moving, students engaged in dynamic discussions that brought science to life. This powerful kickoff marks the beginning of an inspiring journey as our Jr. SWAG students discover new pathways in health, leadership, and service. | Pharmacy Day at Touro College of Pharmacy | | Pharmacy Day was an engaging and informative experience made possible through our collaboration with Touro College of Pharmacy. Students explored the pharmacy career pathway, learning about the education, training, and licensure required to become a pharmacist. They participated in CPR training, practiced counting medications with precision, and rotated through a model pharmacy to understand real-world pharmacy operations. In the compounding lab, students created their own mouthwash, gaining insight into how medications are created. The day provided meaningful insight into the critical role pharmacists play in patient care and healthcare systems overall. | | 2026 Region IX Medical Education Conference | | Our students had an inspiring experience at the 2026 Region IX Medical Education Conference, where they were immersed in an environment centered on mentorship, professional growth, and excellence in medicine. Throughout the day, students engaged in dynamic workshops and panel discussions that strengthened their understanding of the medical journey, from academic preparation to residency. They connected with medical students, residents, and faculty, gaining real insight into different specialties and career pathways. Interactive sessions, including simulation-based learning and research presentations, allowed them to see medicine in action while building confidence and expanding their professional networks. The conference created a powerful space for our students to envision themselves as future leaders in healthcare. | | We are proud to announce a new partnership with Zero Suicide Prevention as we work together to strengthen mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts within our community. Through this collaboration, we will launch a continuing education webinar series beginning in April focused on evidence-based strategies, early intervention, and practical tools to support individuals at risk. This series is designed to equip leaders, educators, and professionals with the knowledge and confidence to foster safer, more responsive environments. We invite community leaders and partners to stay tuned for upcoming details and registration information as we take this important step forward together. | |
