MSNJ President Marc J. Levine, MD, Statement on George Floyd Death and Racism
The death of George Floyd has now been witnessed by all Americans. His death, a tragedy which is difficult to capture in words. The Medical Society of New Jersey grieves with the family of George Floyd for their senseless loss. MSNJ, as all organizations must remain vigilant in both its actions and public perception to continue to treat peoples of all race, ethnicity, and religious beliefs equally. Access to medical care in the greatest nation in the world must continue to strive to be available to all. There are enough seats at the medical table for everyone to get their fill. We are healers of medical ailments but we all must now turn to healing our nation hand in hand with all peoples. We must listen, learn and act. We must be sensitive to the post traumatic stress that this tragedy will have on each of our patients both the senior and the innocent young. We are responsible to heal this nation and pass on a country to our children that hopefully will only read about this tragedy but never to experience again.

Respectfully,
Marc J. Levine, MD

Subsequently, HHS announced that it had extended the attestation deadline for an additional 45 days, but the June 3 deadline has remained on the Provider Relief Fund website .
