MSNJ President Appointed to the Economic Recovery Healthcare Committee
Governor Phil Murphy has appointed MSNJ's President, Dr. Marc J. Levine, to the Economic Recovery Healthcare Committee under the Governor's Economic Restart and Recovery Advisory Council. The purpose of the Council is to bring together leaders from diverse industry groups and community organizations throughout New Jersey to advise state leadership on economic matters impacted by COVID-19. CARES 2.0 House Proposal
The House Democrats may unveil their CARES 2.0 relief legislation in the coming days, with a vote possibly late this week. Currently, the House package is expected to top $1 trillion, with much of that spending driven by a $500 billion fund for state and local relief. Read more .

Maternal and Infant Health Updates
The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute recently released its Recommendations of the New Jersey Perinatal Care During COVID-19 Work Group ” document. The recommendations provide specific and clear guidance aimed at ensuring all pregnant individuals obtain safe and equitable care during COVID-19. The work group consisted of neonatologists, obstetricians, doulas, midwives, members of DOH and the Office of the First Lady, and more.

The DOH has developed two fact sheets regarding changes to their Family Health Services programs and WIC during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MSNJ Medical Student Section Update - COVID-19
MSNJ is proud to support the COVID-19 New Jersey Medical Student Coalition and their efforts to bring together medical students from across the state to provide aid to hospitals and healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic. To date, the coalition has donated more than 6,000 pieces of PPE  (face masks, shields and straps) to New Jersey hospitals and long-term care facilities and expects to donate another 8,000 pieces PPE by the end of this week! Neil Jain (left), Immediate-Past Chair of the MSNJ Medical Student Section (MSS), started a Medical Student Coalition to collect medical supplies such as N95/99 masks, face shields, sterile gloves, latex gloves, protective eye wear, as well as other necessary supplies for NJ hospitals state wide. They have partnered with MSNJ and MSNJ-MSS on this initiative. We applaud them on their outstanding efforts! Check out their  website   for more information and to donate.
