HHS Announces Funding to Expand COVID-19 Testing
Today, the HHS, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded $583 million to 1,385 HRSA-funded health centers to expand COVID-19 testing. This funding is provided under the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. HRSA-funded health centers will use the funding for:
  • Expanding the range of testing and testing-related activities to best address the needs of their local communities, including the purchase of personal protective equipment; 
  • Training for staff, outreach, procurement and administration of tests; 
  • Laboratory services; 
  • Notifying identified contacts of infected health center patients of their exposure to COVID-19; and 
  • The expansion of walk-up or drive-up testing capabilities.
Deadline Extended for Attestation & Acceptance of Terms and Conditions for Provider Relief Fund Payments
HHS has extended the deadline for healthcare providers to attest that they received payments from the Provider Relief Fund and accept the Terms and Conditions . Providers will now have 45 days, increased from 30 days, from the date they receive a payment to attest and accept the Terms and Conditions or return the funds.  Read more .
CMS Updates Guidance on Nursing Facility COVID-19 Reporting
CMS issued additional guidance regarding requirements for long-term care facilities (skilled nursing facilities and nursing facilities) to report COVID-19 information to the CDC, facility residents, and their representatives and families. CMS will begin posting related data from the CDC for viewing by facilities, stakeholders, or the public. The data will be available here . Read the guidance .
