Happy Mother's Day & Happy National Nurses Week From MSNJ!
|
|
From all of us at MSNJ, we would like to thank all of the extraordinary nurses and mother's around the world, as we celebrate
National Nurses Week
this week and
Mother's Day
this weekend.
In recognition of these holidays, we are putting the spotlight on an amazing New Jersey nurse and mother. Susan Kalayilparampil (pictured) is a postpartum nurse on Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s Family Centered Care Unit -- but her most important role is being a mother to MSNJ's Marlene Kalayilparampil! During the past few months, Susan has cared for several mothers who have given birth & tested positive for COVID-19 and was recognized for her extraordinary work this week by
New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy
! Thank you, Susan!

American College of Physicians
Releases Guidance on Partial Resumption of Activities While Mitigating COVID-19 Risk
Today, the American College of Physicians (ACP) released “Partial Resumption of Economic, Health Care and Other Activities While Mitigating COVID-19 Risk and Expanding System Capacity" -- a new clinical and public policy recommendations about how to resume some economic, social and medical care activities in a phased and prioritized approach to help mitigate COVID-19 risk and allow for rapid expansion of health system capacity to conduct essential public health functions.
ACP expressed concern that it is unhelpful and misleading to frame the decision facing federal, state and local authorities as a binary choice of opening up the economy or keeping it closed, saying this creates unnecessary conflict, and hampers decision-making. Instead, ACP believes the U.S. should chart a way forward to allow certain economic and social activities to be resumed in a phased and prioritized way, based on the best available evidence, in a manner that mitigates risk (slows and reduces the spread of COVID-19, and associated deaths and other harm to patients) and rapidly expands health system capacity to diagnose, test, treat, conduct contact tracing (with privacy protections), and conduct other essential public health functions.
