What Matters.?!

Every year, our staff gathers to reflect on the previous year and prayerfully consider what God may be leading us toward in the year ahead. We also spend time listening to what is on the hearts and minds of our students and asking how we can meet them in those spaces.

As we talked this year, two things became clear: we wanted to revisit the foundations of our faith while also engaging the relevant questions and topics our students are navigating today. Our student leaders then joined the conversation, bringing up topics that are important to them, including beliefs, identity, and purpose.

As we continued talking, one theme seemed to capture everything we were thinking about: What Matters.?!

We live in a world that often tells us that everything matters—and that everything deserves the same weight, urgency, and attention. But how do we sort through all the noise to know what is truly worth clinging to and focusing on? That’s the question we’ll be exploring together this year.

What Matters. — In a declarative sense, what are the foundational truths of our faith? What do we believe is true and unchanging?

What Matters? — In an interrogative sense, how do we take those truths and wrestle with what they mean for the way we actually live? How do we sort through the questions, pressures, and challenges we face and learn to live from what is true?

What Matters! — In an exclamatory sense, what happens when we begin to live freely and confidently in what we know to be true? How does truth transform the way we live, love, lead, and follow Jesus?

We’ll begin with foundational topics like Salvation, Worship, and Scripture, before moving into conversations about Identity, Purpose, and more throughout the semester. We’re excited to lean into these questions together and see where God leads us as we discover, wrestle with, and live out What Matters.?!

Celebrating our
2025-2026 Staff Team

We want to take a moment to thank our entire 2025–2026 staff team (pictured) for the many ways they served Mississippi State athletes and coaches over the past year. We are incredibly grateful for each person who invested their time, gifts, and energy into the ministry of FCA!

As we look toward this next season, several members of our team are stepping into new opportunities and seasons of life.

Darius and his wife are expecting a baby girl in January! Between preparing for their growing family and his other work commitments, Darius has made the decision to step away from his part-time role with FCA. We are thankful that he will still be involved in a volunteer capacity from time to time and look forward to having him around campus!

Jason has stepped into a new role as the Campus Pastor at Pinelake. His pastoral heart has always been evident in the way he has served our athletes and coaches, and we are excited to see him pursue something that has been a passion of his for many years.

Mary Ashley got married and is beginning a new season of life with her husband! We are so thankful for the time she invested in FCA and the ways she loved and served our athletes and coaches.

Justin is also stepping into a new season. He is transitioning into a campus representative role, continuing to serve the baseball team, while also pursuing a new opportunity to open a restaurant in Starkville. We are excited to see how God continues to use him in both of these areas!

While our staff team may look a little different this year, we are incredibly grateful for the foundation each of these staff members helped build. We are currently in the process of finding a new Campus Director to lead the ministry at Mississippi State. Please join us in praying as we trust God to provide the right person at the right time for this important role. Pray for wisdom and discernment throughout the process, and for the person God is preparing to step into this position.
