Created to Be

The culture of college sports is truly unique. The energy, excitement, competition, and teamwork all make it a thrilling experience. We all love watching our teams take the courts and fields with passion and dedication to represent their colors. College sports have a strong presence in most communities and homes, as we all want to cheer on our team and witness their achievements. Winning is undoubtedly fun, and it feels great to push the boundaries of what is possible. However, there can be a heavy cost to athletes and coaches, who may sacrifice their personal lives for the sake of sports glory. That's why Mississippi State FCA is committed to ensuring that college sports remain about more than just winning and losing games. What if the college sports culture provides an environment for athletes and coaches to encounter the living God? A place where athletes and coaches can become who God created them to be in the earth?

At the beginning of this year, we introduced our theme, "Created to Be." Our goal is to inspire coaches and athletes to shift their focus from "doing" to "being." Rather than conforming to society's demand for performance, we are encouraging individuals to embrace the message of the Kingdom which demands surrender and rest.

We aspire for coaches and athletes to recognize college sports as an opportunity to become molded and

transformed by their Creator. Our ultimate aim is for individuals to leave their time here looking more like Christ.

What if sports is the ideal environment for this transformation to occur? Sports has the power to bring out

the best and worst in us, creating opportunities to bring our successes, failures, and brokenness before God, allowing Him to touch us and shape us into His image.

Good things are happening and we are excited to share in the joy and fruit of it with all of you.

"For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son,

that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."

Athlete Spotlight: DeBreasha Powe

DeBreasha Powe's Kids Across America Experience:

During a challenge course, I was paired with one of my campers. We were high up in the air when she suddenly got scared. Despite this, we had to finish the course to get down. It took us three hours because she was so afraid. Though I could have finished the challenge alone, I didn't want to leave her behind. This experience taught me how to bring others along with me. It made me realize that God wants me to help others, to bring them with me on my journey of faith.
