Dear Members:
US Youth Soccer recently announced an additional delay on returning to play through May 14, 2020. As you are aware, on April 1, 2020, the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) made the decision to cancel our State Cup and Junior State Cup tournaments. Today, regrettably, MSYSA is canceling the Director’s Academy (DA) Spring 2020 season and the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP) Spring 2020 season.
For now, MSYSA is also suspending all additional soccer activities*, all MSYSA sanctioned tournaments, and all MSYSA affiliated activities through May 14, 2020. The May 15, 2020 return-to-play date, and the current June 13, 2020 Official Tryout Date, will be reviewed by MSYSA on or before Monday, April 27, 2020 based on decisions and/or recommendations anticipated from the State of Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, CDC, and our governing bodies.
*MSYSA affiliated activities’ includes scheduled games, team practice/training sessions, or sponsored activities that are under the direct supervision of a team official; or sanctioned local or national tournaments as a member of a contestant team (e.g., any activity that MSYSA sanctions and insures).
In addition, MSYSA’s printed publication of the Michigan Soccer Tryout Guide has been canceled. Full refunds will be provided to advertisers in the near future. Instead, MSYSA will produce an online publication to promote club tryouts at no cost to clubs and leagues.
This decision was made based on the updated return-to-play date, and in order to avoid mailing a mass publication to our members that would potentially
arrive late and/or include incorrect tryout dates.
Also, MSYSA’s Spring 2020 registration deadline has been extended until June 1, 2020. However, if your club or league is a direct member of MSYSA and you’ve made the decision to cancel your spring programming, please let us know by emailing
