Dear Tournament Directors:

Good news! Last week, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued an amended Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order. Thus, MSYSA plans to begin sanctioning tournaments this week. All tournaments will need to follow the appropriate spectator limit and event guidelines issued by state and local health departments for these events to be fully sanctioned.

For tournaments that have been approved in the tournament center, certificates of insurance will be prepared for your event. Please note this may take a few days. If you haven't already provided me the addresses and other information needed for these certificates, I will reach out this week to secure that from you.

All tournaments must provide a COVID-19 Point of Contact. The tournament POC should be communicated to all teams participating in the event should there be any COVID related issues.

MSYSA recognizes the challenges ahead hosting a tournament with COVID-19 lingering, so we worked with our team at the University of Michigan School of Public Health (UMSPH) to create a COVID-19 Tournament Best Practices document to help with your event planning. This document can also be viewed on our tournament sanctioning page on our website.

In an effort to reduce contact at tournaments, MSYSA encourages you to consider "touch-less and paperless registration with electronic documents partner SportsForms. Even Tournament Liability Waivers can now be signed and collected electronically with SportsForms. To find out more about the SportsForms Touch-less Tournament Electronic Documents Service (TTEDS), please visit https://www.sportsforms.club/tournament-faq.html.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding tournament sanctioning, please reach out to me at rtheisen@michiganyouthsoccer.org.

Sincerely,

Ryan Theisen
