January 8, 2021

Dear Club and League Representatives:

On January 4, 2021, an Amendment to Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order was issued, clarifying the 'enhanced testing regimen.' The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order remains in effect through January 15, 2021. In brief, outdoor non-contact sports are permitted but indoor sports and all contact sports, whether indoors or outdoors, are not permitted, at this time (Click here for more information).

As previously relayed, all MSYSA affiliated activities, such as team training, scrimmages, games, and supplemental try-outs are prohibited through January 15, 2021 unless all participants, teams, and venues comply with the ‘Testing and Additional Mitigation Measures and Play During Statewide Athletics ‘Pause’ (page 4), which is detailed on the MDHHS Interim Guidance for Athletics document. Gatherings are permitted for outdoor fitness classes and activities, and outdoor non-contact sports. Per MDHHS, lower rates of COVID-19 transmission may allow for indoor and contact sports to resume safely in the future.

Based on current COVID-19 conditions, team travel out of state for games and/or tournaments is not recommended at this time. Teams that choose to travel out of state for games and/or tournaments, including teams in US Youth Soccer’s National League Conferences, must comply with local and state health department orders as established in the state(s) they are playing in. Teams must also comply with the applicable Return-To-Play (RTP) guidelines in other states.

In closing, please continue to monitor our website and/or social media platforms for updates.

Sincerely,

Thomas Faro
Executive Director
