December 21, 2020

Dear Club and League Representatives:

As you may know, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order. This specific Emergency Order remains in effect through January 15, 2021.

Gatherings for the purpose of indoor organized sports and contact organized sports in Michigan, including MSYSA affiliated activities, such as team training, scrimmages, games, and supplemental try-outs are prohibited through January 15, 2020, unless all participants, teams, and venues comply with the enhanced testing as detailed on the MDHHS Interim Public Guidance on Contact Sports document under *Additional Mitigation Measures for Safer Athletic Practice and Play section (page 4). Gatherings are permitted for outdoor fitness classes and activities, and outdoor non-contact sports.

As a result of the Order, try-outs for MSYSA’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams, scheduled for December 26, 2020 through December 29, 2020 and January 2-3, 2021, are postponed. New try-out dates, times and, location(s) will be communicated to all registered participants in the near future. In addition, ODP 101 and ODP GK Academy training sessions scheduled for January 9, 2021 are postponed and will be rescheduled as well.

Based on current COVID-19 conditions, team travel out of state for games and/or tournaments is not recommended at this time. Teams that choose to travel out of state for games and/or tournaments, including teams in US Youth Soccer’s National League Conferences, must comply with local and state health department orders as established in the state(s) they are playing in. Teams must also comply with the applicable Return-To-Play (RTP) guidelines in other states.

Please continue to monitor our website and social media platforms for updates.

Sincerely,

Thomas Faro
Executive Director
