February 4, 2021
Dear Club and League Representatives:
In short, organized contact sports, including soccer, may resume in Michigan on Monday, February 8, 2021, provided all participants wear facial coverings during practices and competitions. All participants must maintain 6 feet of social distance from each other when not engaged in play. Gatherings of non-participants for the purpose of observing sports practice and competition must be held consistent with section 3 of the Order.
MSYSA is scheduling a (Zoom) conference call for Friday, February 12, 2021 at 4 PM to discuss our return-to-play guidelines and provide you with our latest update. The Zoom call-in credentials will be sent by separate email to club and league representatives.
Also, MSYSA is in the process of securing ‘COVID POC’ (Point of Contact) from each of our affiliated clubs and leagues. For those that may have clubs participating as part of scheduling leagues, your assistance in securing this information from each of your clubs is needed. All coaches, staff, officials and families must know who their COVID POC is and how to contact them. COVID POC’s must maintain a list of each participant’s parent/guardian and/or emergency contact information. Parents are expected to notify their Coach and COVID POC if their child has a documented case of COVID, becomes sick with COVID symptoms, or has been exposed to someone with COVID symptoms or a confirmed or suspected case. MSYSA is collecting COVID POC information to assist local health departments, and MDHHS, with the reporting/tracing of COVID cases and/or COVID outbreaks. If you have not already been contacted by the MSYSA State Office to provide us your respective COVID POC information, please visit our online form and complete as soon as possible.
In closing, tryouts for MSYSA’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams remain, as scheduled, in March 2021 at the Michigan Stars Sports Center.
Please continue to monitor our website and social media platforms for updates.
