Dear Club and League Representatives:

Please allow this correspondence to serve as an update to our previous communication to club and league representatives dated August 28, 2023.

As you may know, U.S. Soccer is recommending a ball size update for the U13 age group. Currently, U13 utilizes a size 5 ball for play, as outlined in MSYSA Rule 4.4. As we head into the spring soccer season (and tournament play), MSYSA’s Board of Directors has elected not to make any changes on the use of a size 5 ball in the U13 age group.

If/when U.S. Soccer mandates a change, MSYSA will follow suit, and promptly notify our affiliated clubs and leagues of the change at that time. For U13 teams traveling out of state for games and/or tournaments, the use of a size 4 ball (or lighter size 5 ball) may already be in place.
