MTB Boletín en Español

July has been a busy month!

Our rising senior Fellows just completed the discussion of our summer reading, Make Your Home Among Strangers.

Kudos to former High School Fellow and new Leader, Jackie, for running the book discussions.

Thanks to our MTB OSHE interns, Leaders Ashley and Nereida, for working behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly in our summer program.

Special thanks to Ashley for helping us secure a special visit that made our discussion of the book even more amazing!

Leader training is well underway, and we are excited to welcome six new Leaders to MTB, including former Fellows Yessenia, Jackie, and Roselyn. Stay tuned for our official announcement of our new Leaders!

A recent highlight of Leader Training was our combined session with Summer Reading. Our rising seniors had the opportunity to speak with Leaders about the pros and cons of their different experiences: commuting, living away in NJ, and attending college out of state.

As the summer continues, Ashley and Nereida will be continuing to work with our seniors on:

  1. college essays
  2. the common app
  3. financial aid readiness
  4. solidifying their college lists - including options from the list of schools that require no loans.

Celebrating Graduates

Enjoy this video look back at our recent graduation ceremony, where our Leaders shared their congratulations with their graduating Fellows, and Dr. Enmanuel Mercedes shared some words of wisdom.

Michelle's Networking Success

Joining professional organizations and communities is one way to build your network and learn about opportunities.

Leader Michelle is already a part of Management Leaders for Tomorrow.

This summer, she also joined ColorStack, and she became a Reboot Scholar.

Nicely done, Michelle!

Congratulations, Yessenia!

Congratulations to former High School Fellow and new Leader, Yessenia, who was just accepted into the Bonner Program at Montclair, where she will be a 1st-year student this fall.

Yessenia will be joining Leader Nereida at Montclair and in the Bonner program. Bonner Leaders engage in community service and community-engaged internships. They participate in trainings and build skills. In return, they receive a stipend and are eligible for scholarships.

Kudos to Nereida who helped Yessenia navigate the Bonner application process and to Reka and Manan (one of our new Leaders) who supported Yessenia in the interview process.
