HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PASTOR STEPHEN KING!
Pastor's Special Day is July 23rd!
Pastor King
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (New King James Version) reads, "And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves."

We celebrate. We honor. We appreciate. We thank the Lord for allowing the shepherd of Memorial Tabernacle Church to celebrate another year of life. He is a teacher, preacher, singer, counselor, activist, and scholar. With all of his giftings, talents, and skills, he is committed to the ministry of the Gospel, and we pray for God to continue to give him good health and a sound mind.

Celebrate with Pastor King in:
  • STUDY | Tonight, 7 PM in Shepherd's Bible Study
  • PRAYER | Thursday, July 25, 6 AM in Thirst-Day Prayer

NOTES FROM SUNDAY'S SERMON
"UNTIE THE COLT" (Luke 19:28-40)

T  hat is what is so powerful about Jesus. You see the Black Church-the Church where we are a part of-has always been connected to this ideal that we must speak for those who are a part of Bethany (the afflicted) and Bethphage (the marginalized). We have always been trying to untie those people who have been tied up. That is part of our tradition.

Jesus tells his disciples to "Untie the colt and bring it here." Jesus didn't untie the colt, his disciples did. Jesus has commanded his Church to untie that drug addict. Untie those young men bound in crime and mischief in our communities. Untie those beautiful black men locked behind prison walls with the Gospel. Then bring them to Jesus. We have to do this. Jesus told us to do it!

Don't you quiet your voice! Don't you shut up! We've got children to teach. Don't you shut up! We've got a generation to lift up! Don't you shut up! We've got things to do! God has given us a call and we can't shut up! God has given us a call and we will not shut up.

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Stephen King
