|
Earlier this week, students and staff across the Middletown Township Public School District celebrated Twosday, in addition to the 100th and the 101st days of the 2021-2022 academic year.
Around the world, people observed Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 2022 (Tuesady, 2/2/2222) as Twosday, a numerological phenomenon many global citizens recognized as symbolizing connection, the importance of relationships and duality.
Many MTPS students greeted the day with coordinated clothing, in class crafting projects and specially designed academic lessons. Additionally, classes ushered in the 100th and 101st days of the school year with similarly themed classroom events and lesson planning.

High School North Hockey Secures Conference Title
|
|
Colin Delanzo's team-leading 21st goal of the season in the waning minutes of the third period proved to be the difference in this contest, as the second-seeded Lions upset the top-seeded Lancers.
|
|
Delanzo's marker came less than 90 seconds after the Lancers knotted the game at 1-1 on an Alec Osher goal. It was the only puck to find its way past Lions junior goaltender Luke Chrzan, who steered away 24 of 25 shots faced.
Following a scoreless opening frame, High School North got on the board by way of Andrew Gross' 10th goal of the season. Gross is also the club's leading scorer with 34 points on the season.
High School North's championship journey began with an 11-1 opening round victory over Central Regional, followed by a 5-2 triumph over the catholic cooperative program featuring skaters from St. Rose, Red Bank Catholic and Donovan Catholic. MTPS and Township Seek Feedback on Indoor Sports and Recreation Facility

The MTBOE and Township Committee have retained Pinnacle Indoor Sports to spearhead this study, an organization situated in Louisville, KY that has conducted similar initiatives across 41 states.
"In 2019, Port Monmouth School was closed and has been vacant for the last two years," said Board of Education President Frank Capone. "We are proud to be partnering with the Township to work toward creating a much-needed indoor sports and recreation complex for the residents of Middletown, rather than selling the property to the highest bidder where it may end up being over-developed."

MTPS Announces New Business Administration/Management CTE Program
|
|
The Middletown Township Public School District continues to enhance its program offerings with the development of a CTE (Career and Technical Education) initiative which serves to better refine and personalize a student’s learning journey in Middletown.
The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) defines a CTE program as “an educational option that provides learners the opportunity to earn industry-valued credentials, college credit, and workplace experiences incorporating a rigorous academic core coupled with a high-level technical curriculum.”
There are multiple steps in developing a CTE Program. The first was to administer a Career Cluster Survey to gain valuable insight from our middle school and high school students. The survey data revealed that a career in Business had the highest student interest rate in two of the three categories.
The new CTE program, Business Administration/Management, includes the following courses: Criminal Business and Personal Law, Introduction to Business Honors, Business Ethics Honors, and Senior Career Seminar.
The Program requires the district to have an articulation agreement with institutes of higher learning. Middletown is proud to have Seton Hall University and Brookdale Community College provide these dual enrollment opportunities. Students enrolled will also have the opportunity to engage in a meaningful work based learning experience.
Middletown was elated to receive final approval for the Business Administration/ Management Career and Technical Education Program on January 23, 2022. The district looks forward to students participating in the CTE Program starting in 10th grade during the 2022-2023 school year. Administration and guidance counselors are available to provide any information on details of the Program and/or how to enroll.
