MTPS Celebrates High School Graduations and Middle School Promotions

High School North and High School South celebrated the graduating Class of 2023 on Thursday, June 15 with exceptional ceremonies highlighted by band and chorus performances, as well as recaps of the successes these respective groups experienced over the past four years.



"Graduates, today you have reached an extraordinary milestone. And you have all earned this moment of recognition and praise. Today, we celebrate you, not only because you fulfilled the requirements for high school graduation, but also because your achievements extend far beyond mere compliance. Your accomplishments in academics, athletics and the arts have been nothing short of excellent. Collectively and individually, your success is both impressive and noteworthy, and it deserves to be celebrated," said Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Mary Ellen Walker.

"As you leave high school and move on to the next chapter in your life, I encourage you to remain true to yourself, never lose sight of your goals, and most importantly, never give up," said Mr. Capone. "The road ahead may not always be smooth, but with determination, courage and wisdom, you will overcome any obstacle that stands in your way."


Congratulations to the Class of 2023. We can't wait to see all that you will achieve in the future.

MTPS Celebrates Middle School Promotions

Bayshore, Thompson and Thorne Middle Schools celebrated their graduating classes of 2023 on Wednesday, June 14 with ceremonies that included the band performances, vocal demonstrations, and highlighted by band and chorus performances, and recaps of the successes these respective groups experienced over the past four years.


"As you celebrate this day and reflect on your growth and achievements in middle school, I want you to realize all that you are capable of and be proud of yourselves!" said Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Mary Ellen Walker. "We, your educators, families and the entire school community, share in your pride, and eagerly anticipate your many outstanding accomplishments in the years ahead. Congratulations Class of 2023!"


Congratulations to the Class of 2023. We can't wait to see all that you will achieve in the future.

MTPS Rounding out the 2022-2023 School Year

Friday, June 16 marked the final day of classes for the 2022-2023 academic year, and classes across the District used their final hours to create memories that will last the summer and a lifetime.


Pictures Speak a Thousand Words


New Monmouth Elementary School students in Mrs. Kimberly Callas' first grade classroom spent their last day sifting through a collage of photographs, and using a list of scavenger hunt prompts to identify special moments that occurred throughout their school year.

River Plaza Kindergartners Graduate


The River Plaza Elementary School kindergarten class of 2023 commemorated its graduation to grade school with vocal performance in front of a packed auditorium of family, friends and educators who were all brimming with pride. Congratulations on your wonderful performance. We wish you all of the luck with what the future will bring.

Navesink Writers Publish Their Final Pieces


Navesink Elementary School students in Mrs. Melissa Luell's fourth grade class spent their final day in class showcasing the writing skills they developed over the course of the school year. Students participated in the "Navesink Tea Party," capping their unit on the American Revolution by developing a news article about an aspect of the time period, and publishing their work on newspaper print to create a classroom periodical.

YMCA Before and Aftercare Available to MTPS Students

Though summer is upon us, the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County wants to Middletown Township Public School District families to register by August 1st to receive before and/or aftercare services for your student(s). Registration for Y-Kids Before and Aftercare Services is now open. You can sign up your student(s) today to to reserve a spot for them to experience safe, fun and enriching activities with the YMCA this Fall. Learn more by visiting the YMCA's official website.

MTPS Summer Reading Selections Now Available

Summer reading opportunities play a vital role in the educational development of students in the Middletown Township Public School District. Engaging in reading activities over the summer recess offers numerous benefits, including:


  • Helping students maintain and enhance their literacy skills, preventing the "summer slide," and ensuring a smooth transition into the next grade level.
  • Expanding vocabulary, improving comprehension, and enhancing critical thinking abilities.
  • Fostering a lifelong love for reading, nurturing imagination, and promoting independent learning.
  • Encouraging time management skills and self-discipline, as students learn to set aside dedicated reading time amidst their summer activities.
  • Providing a pleasurable and relaxing activity that offers a healthy alternative to excessive screen time.


By emphasizing the importance of summer reading, the Middletown Township Public School District empowers students to become confident and proficient readers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for academic success and personal growth.
