Robotics Camp is a Success!
Our first ever Robotics Camp was a success! The two-week program wrapped up with a showcase on Friday, August 3rd. The twenty-four students who qualified came from a wide range of school districts in Nassau and Suffolk counties, some including West Hempstead, Lindenhurst, South Huntington, Centereach, Patchogue and Lake Grove. The students learned and practiced Engineering Design, Practical Electronics, and Microcontroller Programming while working collaboratively in a team to design, build, and program an autonomous and Bluetooth controlled robot. In addition to the scholarship they each received to cover the cost of attending, the students received a robotics kit to take home in conclusion of the camp.

NYSTAR
Defense Diversification Workshop

Tues. August 14, 2018 • 9:00AM-2:00PM • Saratoga, NY
Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology & Innovation (NYSTAR) was awarded funding from the Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment for an initiative to increase New York State companies’ competitiveness by assisting defense focused organizations with diversification efforts aimed at making them more resilient to Department of Defense spending fluctuations.  As part of this program NYSTAR will be holding a match-maker style event, where defense focused manufacturing organizations meet directly with hand-picked business and technology experts in one-on-one consultations. Attendees will be given the opportunity to meet with and learn about the expertise offered by such resources and see how this could fit into their diversification ideas and plans. Companies are encouraged to collaborate with these resources on diversification projects and talk about the potential support for the completion of such projects.
