Thank You for Your Diligence
|
|
As we forge ahead through the coldest months of winter, we thank you for your continued diligence in practicing the virus mitigation procedures we are all now well-familiar with: wearing a face covering, washing hands, and maintaining a safe distance from others. Your help is invaluable in ensuring that our school community stays safe and healthy, especially now as the COVID-19 vaccine rollout moves forward in our state. Whether someone in your household has received the vaccine or your child has COVID-19 antibodies, it is still extremely important to continue our mitigation efforts to protect the population at large.

Welcome New School Resource Officer, Lewis Johnson
|
|
We are pleased to welcome Officer Lewis Johnson to MTSD as our newest School Resource Officer. Officer Johnson has been with the Mequon Police Department since 2016 and takes the place of Officer Tarie Umhoefer, who has just completed her 4-year role as SRO. Officer Johnson has experience as a police officer in Lansing, Michigan, and serves as the police department liaison for Special Olympics. With an eye on student success, Officer Johnson is excited to begin his tenure in our district.

|
Thank You, Officer Umhoefer!
|
|
On behalf of our students, staff, and families, we offer our sincere gratitude to Officer Tarie Umhoefer for her dedication to the Mequon-Thiensville School District for the past four years.
Officer Umhoefer, an officer with the Mequon Police Department, completed her service as School Resource Officer (SRO) with MTSD on January 14, 2021. During her time in our district, Umhoefer played an instrumental role in expanding the school resource officer program in our schools and community, which includes private schools in Mequon and Thiensville.
While serving as the district SRO, Officer Umhoefer was focused on collaborating with school and district leaders in a way that always put the best interests of students first. While her office was physically located at Homestead High School, she also frequented our middle and elementary schools. She was an active member of the district safety committee, regularly attended building-specific safety team meetings, and also spent time giving presentations and guiding discussions for our full administrative team. Officer Umhoefer was committed to continuous improvement and attended professional development through our local CESA’s SRO network.
Officer Umhoefer will be recognized during the board of education business meeting on January 25, 2021.

MTSD Strategic Plan Survey Now Open
|
|
Throughout the challenges that the current school year has presented us, one resource that has grounded our collective efforts and focused our work is the District's strategic plan. With the 2018-2021 strategic plan coming to a close, the time has come for us to take a step forward to review and revise it and develop plans to further achieve our preferred future. Our vision is: Each student, every time, empowered to succeed.
With that, we invite you to take this important survey. The input and perspectives of our families are important. The progress we have made as an organization has benefited immensely from the engagement of each MTSD parent, guardian, and family and the strong relationships that we continue to develop across the community. This survey affords you the opportunity to provide feedback in support of our strategic planning efforts and as a result, inform what key issues should be accounted for in our plans.
Your responses are confidential and your participation is voluntary. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Once again, thank you in advance for your engagement and continued partnership.

Climate & Culture Survey Results
|
|
Our mission is that together, we ignite each student’s passion for learning, preparing for a life of infinite possibilities. A positive school climate and culture is essential to realizing that mission. What are climate and culture? We think of climate and culture in terms of seven broad categories:
- Student Relationships
- Learning Environment
- Safety & Well-Being
- Physical Environments
- Contracted Services
- Family Engagement
- Overall District Quality
In the past several years we have surveyed our stakeholders on these categories and we are presenting the 2020-21 results in their entirety for your review.

The phases of project planning were enhanced by the feedback and input provided by faculty, staff, and the community.
At the January 25 business meeting, the Board of Education will review the final drawings of what our buildings are soon going to become! Our Referendum Project website will be updated to include the final images by school, so please check the site early next week.
