Their goals are to nurture persons so they may...

  • Grow in wisdom and in healthy self-esteem.
  • Develop lifestyles of loving interdependence with each other and all of creation.
  • Affirm and expand their faith in God and their service as Christian disciples within God's world.

Note that not all camp opportunities are available for registration yet but will be added, so check back for additional dates. For more information, visit their website at www.gocamping.org.
Update from MUMC Finance Committee
MUMC Finance Committee Report
May 16, 2021

Good news. Despite the pandemic, we are presently covering all budgeted operational
expenses. Thank you for your gracious giving and steadfast support of MUMC.

Our January to April Ledger to Budget report shows $92,997.81 in revenue and $77,125.64 in expenses.

Our balance sheet at the end of April states $67,317.33 in General Checking, with $12,603.13 restricted and $53,242.30 available cash. Pledge giving, at $81,605.96 is at 35.71%, a bit over the 33.3% expected for the first 4 months of the year. A small number of donors have paid their annual pledge in advance. Non-pledge giving is also healthy, $7,231.85, at 60.27% of budget.

There was no Spring Challenge this year and no “Fun-raising” program due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns. COVID relief funds might fill some of the $12,500 budgeted fundraising gap.

Expenses are at 31.92% of budget, a bit lower than budgeted (1%) due to savings in the Choir Director, Childcare and Custodian positions and scant use of program funds. Also, though winter utility expenses were high, we are seeing savings in electricity with the solar panels and LED lighting.

We are on track to pay our full Conference and District 2021 Shared Ministry Apportionment of $34,930. We have been paying $3,000 per month. This year’s apportionment is a reduction from last year’s $40,458 apportionment. We are also asked to consider $6,032 in optional Direct Program Support and $530 in District Funding for the Cascadia District Church Extension.

The District Program Support programs are the Church Development/Vital Church Project at $2,320, the Campus Ministry at $1,740, the Youth and Adult Ministries at $232 and the Hispanic Ministry at $1,700.

Hosting the Family Building Blocks child development programs will have a financial impact as well as impacts on kitchen and classroom renovations and building and parking lot usage.

Blessings always,
Bill Burgess, MUMC Finance Committee
