Meet Our Staff: Cathy Lipp
|
Meet our new Group Exercise instructor, Cathy Lipp, who will be joining us at the MUSC Wellness Center as a new yoga and cycling instructor.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Cathy double majored in Journalism and Theater at the College of Charleston from 1993-1997. She was also a member of the CofC Varsity Sailing Team.
For Cathy, yoga and cycling are her favorite ways to work out and to unwind. She’s been a 500-hour certified yoga instructor since 2004 and a cycling instructor since 2010.
In her classes, she tries to incorporate a fun, non-competitive, yet dynamic approach to her teaching style.
“I love to get to know my students and to tailor certain work efforts to their specific goals,” she said.
Being no stranger to injuries (personally and professionally), Cathy is vigilant about helping her students find balance through safe and structured classes.
When she’s not teaching yoga or biking, she can be found on a boat with her husband James coaching, cheering or traveling with their two teenage sons who are both Team USA competitive Laser/ILCA sailors. She also loves cooking and a good spy novel.
Be sure to stop in to Cathy’s cycling class on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and alternating Saturdays at 9:15 a.m.

Beyond Therapy post-rehab program
|
We recently started "Beyond Therapy," our new post-rehabilitation exercise program.
We've been offering a post-rehab personal training program for over 20 years, but thanks to our colleagues at the Hollings Cancer Center and the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program, we have given the program a new name and overall look.
Our goal is to support patients' journey to perfect well-being and provide them with knowledgeable fitness specialists, a variety of exercise options, and safe studios.
If you're interested in starting this program, you must fill out this questionnaire and get a doctor's referral. You can learn more about Beyond Therapy on our website.
