Our MUSD Student Board Representatives spearheaded the development of Resolution 2024.21 A School Digital Citizenship and anti-CyberBullying Resolution, which was unanimously adopted by the Board of Education at the Feb. 13 meeting, and then produced this video reading.

In honor of National African American History Month, which is celebrated throughout the month of February each year, Weller Elementary School students were featured in this video resolution that premiered at the February 13, 2024 MUSD Board of Education meeting, where the board unanimously adopted the resolution.

Milpitas HS Lions Dance Club gives riveting performance in celebration of Lunar New Year

The Milpitas High School Lions Dance Club treated the Board of Education, District leadership and MUSD community to a traditional dance performance in celebration of the Lunar New Year.

MUSD School calendars approved for 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years

The Board of Education adopted the school calendars for the 2024-25 and the 2025-26 school year, after gathering input from staff and parents, as well as School Site Councils and the Community Board Advisory Council, on the selection of an upcoming school calendar. The input confirmed common wishes as well as proposed unique challenges to scheduling for schools, employees, and families. 


Mid-Year LCAP Update outlines outcomes, costs

Executive Director of Learning and Innovation Priti Johari, along with Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Wendy Zhang, provided a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Update, which included midyear outcome date related to metrics identified in the current LCAP, and midyear expenditure and implementation data on all actions in current LCAP.

Alternative Diploma Track for Students with Disabilities in the works for select learners

Director of Special Education and Student Services Jeff Weiss introduced a new initiative to create an Alternative Diploma Track for Students with Disabilities who take the California Alternative Assessment (CAA).

Mandarin infused into Randall's World Languages School Program

Randall World Languages School Program now has #as its Heritage language infused into the Spanish and English curriculum for Transitional Kindergarten through 1st Grade for 2024-25. The program will continue to grow by one grade level each year.


With a district-wide open enrollment boundary, any families living within Milpitas can enroll, as well as children of employees working within Milpitas city limits.

Superintendent Jordan shares State of District update

At the February 13, 2024 meeting, Superintendent Cheryl Jordan shared Attendance Rates as well as MHS Bond Project Updates and MUSD Community Events.

The Board of Education approved the following education items at the February 13, 2024 board meeting:


  • Approve Swinerton Builders Amendment #1 for the Milpitas High Performing Arts Center (PAC)
  • Disclosure of Milpitas Teachers Association (MTA) Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Approve Tentative Agreement (TA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MUSD and the Milpitas Teachers Association (MTA)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Board Advisory Committee
  • Select candidates on the CSBA Delegate Assembly ballot
  • Approve Cost Savings - Budget Reduction Measures Plan

Recognitions

Knights of Columbus for donation toward MUSD special education


The Knights of Columbus, represented by Gwan Alisantosa and Manuel Mallabo II, as well as Ocean Supermarket, represented by Minch Quach, and MHS junior Evan Luu were recognized by the MUSD Board for their continued support of the MUSD special education community. Through the People With Intellectual Disabilities program, the Knights presented a donation check of $6,670.

Milpitas HS cross country star athletes Althouse, Agrawal


Jordan Althouse and Arnav Agrawal were honored by the MUSD Board of Education and District leadership. Althouse qualified for the CIF State Cross Country Championships by securing 5th place overall in his division. Agrawal ran the fastest time by a freshman in CCS, finished 11th overall in the D1 race at CCS, and set multiple MHS freshman records this season in cross-country. 

TRMS 8th grader Vishv Dhanraj earns President's Volunteer Award

Vishv Dhanraj, an eighth grader from Thomas Russell Middle School, was honored by the Board and District leadership for his volunteer work in earning a bronze medal in the Presidents Volunteer Award Program.

Sinnott first grader Raad Arhan's creative writing wins publication

Raad Arhan, a first grader from Sinnott Elementary School, was recognized by the Board and District leadership for creative writing winning submission in the Young Writers US contest.
