Celebrating June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month


Milpitas High School's True Colors Club students were featured in a video reading of Resolution 2024.39 Encouraging the Celebration of the Month of June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, which was unanimously adopted by the MUSD Board of Education at the June 11th meeting.

Rancho MS Botball Team


Rancho MS Botball Team was honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for their achievements in MUSD's first-ever BotBall Tournament, including Judges’ Choice Award for Outstanding Rookie Team.

Randall's Superstars Basketball Team


Randall World Languages School's Superstars basketball team was recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership for winning first place at the Co-Ed Basketball tournament organized by Little Heroes. 

Milpitas High School's softball team


Milpitas HS softball team, coached by Samantha Rodriguez, was honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for an amazing season and run into the CCS Championship Game for the first time in 20 years.

CDC Volunteer of Year Victoria Moses


Victoria Moses was honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for being selected as the MUSD Child Development Center's 2024 Volunteer of the Year.

Student officers from the 2023-24 school year

Student officers from 2023-24 school year  were recognized by the Board of Education and District leadership for being exemplary student leaders and serving as elected officials at your respective campuses.

Milpitas Xtreme Robotics

Milpitas High School's Milpitas Xtreme Robotics Team was honored by the Board of Education and District leadership for an outstanding performance at the 2024 VEX World Championship in Dallas, Texas.

Highlights

Board advances parcel tax measure initiative

Given the desire of the MUSD community to safeguard services such as full-time health clerks and increase staff capacity to provide learner opportunities for pathways in technology, athletics, and civic leadership, as well as increased mental health services, the District is considering additional parcel tax funding to support these priorities. At the June 11 meeting, the Board directed staff to take next steps for a parcel measure on the November 5, 2024 election, including a resolution for consideration at the upcoming June 25 meeting.

Board approves boundary change for Burnett Elementary School effective SY 2025-26

The Board of Education unanimously approved the District's recommendations of a boundary change that would direct all of the Burnett Elementary students to the Russell Middle School attendance area effective in the 2025-26 school year.

Student Nutrition Services offers update to the Board

Sandy Huynh, Director of Student Nutrition Services & Warehouse; Peter Neddersen, SNS Central Kitchen Lead; and Rachelle Dalisay, SNS High School Lead shared a report to the Board about Nutrition Services, reviewing the evolution of the child nutrition program over the years, the intentional efforts to improve food quality by increasing freshly prepared meals, as well as the plan for next school year.

Mattos Elementary announces new assistant principal

Educator Bess Wood was selected and board approved as the next assistant principal at Mabel Mattos Elementary School. Wood comes to MUSD via Santa Clara Unified School District, where she was a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports district coach as well as an adjunct professor at CSU-Monterey Bay.

Superintendent's State of the District

Superintendent Cheryl Jordan shared her latest State of the District Update, which included the district's Attendance Rates thus far this 2023-24 school year.

  • Resolution 2024.42 Provisional Intern Permit - Special Education in Mild/Moderate


The Board conducted public hearings for:

  • Proposed Budget Adoption for 2024-25
  • 2023-24 Annual Update and 2024-25 Local Control Accountability plan (LCAP)
  • Sunshine Proposal: Milpitas Teachers Association (MTA) Initial Proposal for reopeners of Collective Bargaining Agreement.
