AI at MUSD: Building the Flywheel of Innovation

At the January 27th Board of Education meeting, Director of Technology Services Chin Song and Senior Manager of Advanced Technology and Innovation Anh Pham led a study session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Milpitas Unified School District: Building the Flywheel of Innovation, sharing how AI is being utilized at schools and departments by educators and students. The Tech team has coached 130 educators with 1-on-1 trainings to help launch the district-wide AI initiatives.

Phase 3 of MUSD Innovation Campus receives board approval with more than $300k in savings

The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the third phase of the MUSD Innovation Campus, which includes a Workforce Development Center and an Early Childhood Education Center, as well as flexible spaces for a new boardroom, cafeteria and community meeting facility, was approved by the Board of Education. After the board study session on January 13, Blach construction worked with district staff to lower the GMP by $333,718.

Classified School Employees receive pay raise in new agreement

Following negotiations between MUSD and California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 281 that concluded on January 6, 2026, the CSEA unit members ratified the Tentative Agreements between MUSD and the Association on January 15, 2026, which was unanimously approved by the Board of Education at the January 27th meeting. Key provisions agreed upon for the 2025-2026 school year include: A salary schedule increase of 1.5% across the board, retroactive to July 1, 2025; and a $150 increase to the medical cap, effective January 1, 2026.
