Norwood, Yip-Chuan return as President, Vice President in '26

At the December 9th MUSD Board of Education organizational meeting, Chris Norwood was re-elected as Board President and Kelly Yip-Chuan as Vice President for the 2026 calendar year. Furthermore, Minh Ngo was voted in as the new Board Clerk for 2026. Also part of the organizational proceedings, the Board Trustees selected their School Site and Internal/External Committee Assignments for the ensuing year; officially approved the 2026 board meeting schedule; and re-adopted the established Board Group Agreements. We appreciate the commitment of the Board, which is completed by Trustees Robert Jung and Dr. Anu Nakka, to the district's continued success and look forward to their leadership throughout 2026 and beyond.

Positive certification for MUSD 2025-26 First Interim Budget

After a Study Session led by Chief Business Officer Dorothy Reconose and her team, the Board unanimously approved the 2025-26 First Interim Report, which allows our district submit a 3-year financial outlook that should be approved by the Santa Clara County Office of Education for positive certification. The purpose of the First Interim Report is to provide an update to the staff, Board, public, and other interested agencies of the District’s current General Fund financial status.

Video Resolution

Team members of our MUSD Learning & Development team were featured in video reading of Resolution 2026.20 In Support of Full Funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which was unanimously adopted by the Board of Education. IDEA is a federal law that ensures students with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). It requires schools to conduct comprehensive evaluations for students who may need services, develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for every eligible student 3 to 22 years of age.

MUSD Inclusion Champions for creating learning environments where every student feels they belong, are supported, and can succeed.

Milpitas HS Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Lead Instructors Patrick McCormick and James Whitney for growing and enhancing the NJROTC program throughout MUSD.

Milpitas HS musicians Dylan Nguyen and Angel Yang for being selected to the California Orchestra Directors Association All-Star String Orchestra; and Milpitas HS singers Akash Sriram and Pallavi Chakravarthy for being selected to the American Choral Directors Association Western Region Honor Choir.

Milpitas HS boys water polo team for completing a historic season, including regular season and tournament championships.

Milpitas HS videographers Rana Yildiz, EmmcilleMay Masangkay, Thara Kadalayi, Sanyukta Gorde, Kinnera Chilakamarry, Ella Pascua, Joey Lai, Liana Cacal Li, Samantha Wong, GabrielleAnn Thein, Leena So, and Jenny Tran for producing winning videos in the User-Generated Content UCC Video Competition.
