Board of Education moves forward with parcel tax renewal measure for June ballot
In order to sustain this locally controlled school funding in Milpitas Unified School District and prevent reductions to programs and teaching staff, the MUSD Board of Education voted 4-0 to place a local parcel tax renewal measure on the June 7, 2022 Primary Election ballot.

The proposed measure (which will be Measure E on the ballot) would extend, but not increase, the existing tax rate of $84 per parcel per year for 8 years. Funds from the measure would be used to:
  • Continue accelerating academic programs in science, technology, engineering, arts, athletics and math
  • Attract and retain highly qualified teachers and staff
  • Create stronger academic programs in reading, writing and computer science while supporting student mental health and well-being
  • Increase educational pathways for career and college readiness
  • Ensure teachers have the support and tools needed to prepare students for the future workforce

A signed copy of Resolution 2022.31 – Resolution calling for a June 7, 2022 election to extend a quality education parcel tax was delivered to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters before the March 11 deadline.

Board President Kelly Yip-Chuan, Vice President Chris Norwood, Clerk Minh Ngo and Trustee Hon Lien supported the resolution. Trustee Michael Tsai abstained from the vote. Learn more about the Measure E parcel tax renewal here.
