At Manteca Unified, every student is a learner! Regardless of whether a student is an athlete, English learner, foster youth, a differently abled student, or from any particular background, all students deserve the opportunity to learn, belong, and succeed.
This month's video spotlight focuses on inclusion and an approach that goes beyond a label or program, reflecting MUSD's belief that every student can grow and be challenged in the classroom, no matter the needs or services they receive.
Through the District's Co-Teaching Model, both General Education and Special Education teachers work side-by-side in the same classroom to deliver rigorous instruction and meaningful support for all learners.

| | Community Feedback Sessions: Share Your Experiences | | |
Every year, we invite families to share feedback on important topics, including student learning, safety, attendance, college and career readiness, and the programs and services that support our students.
Led by District Leadership, these Community Feedback Sessions provide families with an overview of the District's goals outlined in the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and how these goals are taking shape in our classrooms and schools.
As we enter the final year of our three-year planning cycle, we are especially eager to hear meaningful feedback and impactful stories from families about:
- What is working well in classrooms and schools?
- Services that are making a difference for your child.
- The results and progress you are seeing for your child.
Your family's real-life experiences and insights will help guide future discussions and shape future priorities
MUSD will host five Community Feedback Sessions at locations across the District on the following dates:
Wednesday, February 4 @ 6:00 p.m. — MUSD District Office RESC Building
Friday, February 6 @ 9:00 a.m. — MUSD District Office RESC Building

Did you know you can choose the language you receive school messages in? Families can now select a Preferred Language in the Q Parent Connect portal to receive school and District communications, such as phone calls, text messages, and emails, in the language they prefer.
If you would like to review or update your preference, simply log in to Q Parent Connect and adjust your settings at any time.
How to Update Your Preferred Language in Q Parent Connect:
- Log in to Q Parent Connect
- Click on "My Information"
- Select "Preferred Language" and choose your preference
- Click "Submit" to save your changes
When you log in, you may notice TWO language fields: “primary language” and the other “preferred language”.
Primary Language You cannot change your primary language. This is the language selected when you registered your child and refers to the language spoken at home. It is used for reporting purposes. Preferred Language You can update your preferred language at any time. This lets us know the language you’d like us to use when communicating, both in writing and verbally.
Keeping your Preferred language up to date helps ensure you do not miss important announcements, reminders, and school communications.

High School Course Catalog Planning Ahead for High School? The 2026-27 Course Catalog is now available online.

| | Registration for 2026-27 School Year | | |
Registration for the 2026-27 school year is now open for all TK-12th-grade students who will be NEW to Manteca Unified.
Families are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible, as class sizes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registering early gives your child the highest chance of attending their school of residence (the school assigned based on your home address).
Additionally, the Open Enrollment window opened on January 20. This process allows families to apply for their child(ren) to attend a MUSD school other than their school of residence. Also known as school-to-school transfers. Please note: elementary families with a student currently attending a school through Open Enrollment must reapply during this window.
Open Enrollment forms must be submitted online by February 27. Visit www.mantecausd.net/transfer to access the digital Open Enrollment form.
| Transitional Kindergarten (TK): A Strong Start Begins Here | |
Families who live within MUSD boundaries have an exciting opportunity to give their youngest learners a strong start with Transitional Kindergarten (TK).
Do you have a child who will turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026? If so, they are eligible for TK for the 2026-27 school year!
Transitional Kindergarten is the year between preschool and kindergarten that helps children build strong early learning skills and gives them a developmentally appropriate head start. Through purposeful learning, students develop early reading, literacy, and math skills, as well as communication and self-regulation strategies. Most importantly, they build an early love for learning!
The program provides:
- Free, full-day learning opportunities
- Lower staff-to-student ratio
- Curriculum aligned with instruction up to 3rd grade
As more families choose TK, we see children entering kindergarten more prepared and confident, with stronger foundational skills, such as letter identification and number recognition. Children who participate in TK are performing stronger and more proficiently in kindergarten, first grade, and beyond.

In January, Manteca Unified joined Manteca PD and local experts to host a Human Trafficking Awareness Town Hall, welcoming a room full of families and community members, who were provided a safe space for learning and dialogue, helping them better understand how human trafficking can occur in everyday communities — and how awareness and connection play a key role in prevention.
Through presentations, real-world examples, and a Q&A session, attendees gained insight into:
- What human trafficking is and the different forms it can take
- How grooming and online risks can make youth more vulnerable
- Warning signs and behaviors families can watch for
- Common myths surrounding human trafficking

| | January Board Meeting Updates | | |
Recognizing Our Board's Commitment to Students
At the January Board Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Clark Burke formally recognized each member of MUSD's Board of Education, presenting Certificates of Appreciation in gratitude for their service and leadership.
Throughout the year, Manteca Unified's Board makes student-centered decisions that support academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, safety, and welcoming learning environments.

Expanded Learning Shows Positive Results
MUSD's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) shared and updated on how expanded learning time is supporting student success across the district.
Data shared with the Board of Education showed that our students who participate in the 9-hour day program, including before-and-after school programs, intersession, and Summer Academy, have demonstrated an increase in math and reading achievement and have recorded lower rates of chronic absenteeism.
Manteca Unified is proud to provide targeted support through the ELOP program and looks forward to its continued growth as it serves even more students with the support they need to progress toward success in the classroom.

Enrollment Planning Updates
MUSD Board of Education continues to review enrollment trends and plan for future growth. Over the past few months, the Board reviewed enrollment data, approved attendance boundary adjustments, and discussed long-term planning options.
At this month's Board Meeting updates were provided on the progress on three-new elementary schools. After discussion, the Board did not move forward with a year-round education proposal due to current school capacity and new schools coming soon.
| | Across the District, modernization projects continue to enhance learning spaces, outdoor areas, and facilities that support student success and wellness. | | |
Nutrition Services Warehouse Renovations
A new modernization project is underway as crews begin renovations on what will soon be the Nutrition Education Warehouse. This new space will include a test kitchen for experimenting with new recipes, cold storage areas, and new delivery bays designed to support efficient loading and unloading.
As MUSD continues to expand meal options and serve more students each day, this project will provide the space needed to support fresh, locally sourced ingredients, scratch-cooked meals, and ensure timely delivery to all 29 school sites.

Lathrop High Students Explore Careers Close to Home
Lathrop High School students are gaining real-world career insight through the City Speaker Series, a hands-on program that connects classroom learning with future career pathways. Through monthly guest speakers and field trips, students hear directly from City of Lathrop professionals working in fields such as engineering, public safety, parks and recreation, human resources, and community development.
Now in its third year, the program has grown to serve more students and continues to foster meaningful conversations about career options. These experiences help students see how city departments work together, what day-to-day roles look like, and how professionals build their career paths. Students also learned about communication, networking, and business professional skills tied to these careers.
