THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON
October 15–19, 2025
From cinema and murals to midcentury Houston modernism, this week’s art scene is packed with energy and conversation.
The Houston Cinema Arts Society kicks things off Wednesday night with a FREE Festival Lineup Release Party at ARTECHOUSE Houston, which just debuted Fractal Worlds—a dazzling new digital art experience created in collaboration with award-winning Dutch artist Julius Horsthuis.
Thursday brings six standout receptions and talks—including Emilie Duval’s digital architectures at Alliance Française, Justin Earl Grant’s talk at Sabine Street Studios, and a lively mural-making panel discussion with artists from this year's Buffalo Bayou Mural Festival, which launches this weekend.
By Friday, it’s full throttle: Ann Johnson’s Still Here at FLATS, Soledad Salamé’s Camouflage at Blaffer Art Museum, and Christopher Paul’s Temporal Estrangement at Lawndale Art Center headline a night of powerhouse openings.
Saturday is a feast of art, music, and community—from the Fabulous Fifties at Julia Ideson Building to Round 59 at Project Row Houses, Ernesto Marenco at Heidi Vaughan Fine Art, and a live cinema performance by Hillerbrand + Magsamen at MFAH Brown Auditorium Theater. Houston Art Weeks 2025 also comes to a close with a benefit art sale at The Montrose Center.
Wind down Sunday with clay and conversation at Foelber Pottery Gallery & Studio with The Pottery Bros, before closing out the week with a benefit art auction at LAR Gallery celebrating artists who reimagine the world around us.
It’s another week that reminds us why Houston’s creative pulse never skips a beat. Scroll down for the full lineup of openings, talks, and art-centric happenings across the city—and, as always, find even more on my website.
