Join me for an afternoon downtown at the WHITNEY MUSEUM to revisit their countless treasures of American Art and take a deep dive into the midlife retrospective of Ethiopian born artist JULIE MEHRETU prior to its closing on August 8. I am inspired by her intellect and layers of historical references in her drawings and monumental works that are on view. Wonderful restaurants abound in the MEATPACKING DISTRICT and I will plan a walk to the newly opened LITTLE ISLAND just steps away in the Hudson River. https://whitney.org/exhibitions/julie-mehretu
Still on view at the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART is ALEXANDER CALDER: MODERN FROM THE START (closes August 7), an exhibit of early wire and wood figures, works on paper, jewelry, mobile and abstract sculpture showing the versatility of the 20th century artist.

CEZANNE DRAWING with over 250 rarely seen works in pencil and watercolors is viewed alongside of finished paintings, showing the brilliance and dedicated process of the 19th century French artist. It will be there until September 25.
