Tourism is often considered to be the backbone of Muskegon County.

In honor of National Travel and Tourism Week, Visit Muskegon has planned an array of events for the week of May 5-11, 2019.

Targeted toward small businesses and the general public, the events highlight the importance of tourism to the local economy and provide insight on ways in which to prepare for the upcoming season.

Over 4,000 elementary students had the chance to sing alongside the West Michigan Symphony last week.

55 West Michigan schools have partnered with the symphony as part of the Link Up program, aimed at connecting the dots between music and academics.
Top attractions and upcoming events were highlighted as part of 13 On Your Side's recent filming in Muskegon.

Jon Mills, Lakeshore Reporter, visited many area businesses, including Fricano’s Muskegon Lake, The Lakeside Emporium, WaterDog Outfitters, Country Dairy and more.

Morning Show hosts also spoke to area residents and received updates on summer events like the City of Muskegon's 150th Celebration and Taste of Muskegon.

Muskegon Lake has come a long way since nearly 50 sawmills lined the shores in the early 19th century.

Currently, The Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership works diligently in restoring the lake to a healthy ecosystem. The partnership has produced a film documenting their work, which premiers at the Frauenthal on May 15.
In addition, the MLWP hosts many public beautification projects, including the upcoming Muskegon Lake Spring Cleanup.
