A message from the President
|
Dear
REALTOR®
Family:
This will be my last month having the
honor
to serve
you as President. It has been a year of change and progress for our membership. Many
thanks
to the time and commitment of the
Officers and Directors
who have
served on the Board of Directors
this year. We are
thankful
for our professional Association staff who are here to serve you with your member needs behind the scenes, at educational classes and all of our events throughout the year.
Although I never wanted to serve to this capacity, I don’t regret a second of it. There are so many that give their time, energy and money to make our
Association
thrive. It truly takes getting involved to understand what
MVAR
dues are paying for and the many benefits it provides. I cannot begin to list them here, so if you really want to know, give me a call or send me an email. :)
This fall we started being able to provide your education at no cost. Our goal is to continue that into 2020. With the merger of
NWAR
we are able to increase our number of classes for 2020 and include various locations to better serve you. In addition we will be hosting
GRI certification classes
and
NAR Designations
.
REALTORS®
this is your Association and I encourage you to get involved with a committee, follow us on Face Book, check out our website and attend monthly General Membership meetings. We are growing this year and 1,300+
REALTORS®
strong!
Look forward to seeing you at the
November Annual Elections General Membership
meeting. Remember, you can vote in person at the meeting or by dropping by the
MVAR
office throughout the day. Results will be announced the following day.
Blessings to you and your families, friends and fellow
REALTORS®
this Holiday Season.

North Santiam Council Update

Stayton's First Brewery
I am very excited that we have our very first brewery in Stayton, Snow Peaks Brewing. The brewery is located in old town, on Water Street (the end of third). It was started by local friends who grew up in the area, Crystal and Matt Spenner and Doug and Cari Naugle. The Spenners have both been brewing for years.
Code Amendments
Stayton Planning Commission is considering working on possible code amendments relative to residential zoning. At this point it is merely a discussion on how to improve our zoning in order to help with the growing housing needs.

Salem City Council Elects New Ward 7 City Council
Salem City Council voted on October 28 to appoint Salem attorney Vanessa Nordyke to fill the vacancy of Councilor Sally Cook, who recently resigned after her husband unexpectedly passed away this summer. Council was required to reopen the vote between the two finalists, Vanessa Nordyke and Reid Sund, when it was determined that an error was made in determining that Vanessa Nordyke had a received a majority of the votes for the appointment at the Special Council meeting on October 21.
The Salem City Council interviewed the two finalists for the Ward 7 City Council seat and the final vote count on October 28 determined Vanessa Nordyke to be the winner upon Nordyke receiving 6 votes and Reid Sund receiving 2 votes. Ms. Nordyke will fill the vacancy until December 2020, the remainder of Sally Cook’s term. Ward 7 is one of the four seats that is up for election in May 2020.
