A Message from the President

Hello REALTOR® Family,

Welcome to October!
During the month of September we were focusing on REALTOR® Safety month when we were hit across our beautiful State with wildfires. It has been heartbreaking to hear how many have been affected. We are thankful to so many who have reached out to help.

We postponed our September General Membership Meeting with guest speaker Sheena Williams of Krav Maga Salem due to the wildfires. Stay tuned as we plan to have her present to the membership later this month!

Thank you for your continued support and grace toward our association as we continue to navigate the Covid-19 Pandemic and wildfires. Gratitude and thanks to our affiliates who work so hard with us all.

We are committed to continuing virtual educational opportunities for our members, and currently we are looking at a few possibilities of combining in person (limited) along with broadcasting virtually through zoom at the same time to our members!

Looking forward to zooming with you at our General Membership Meeting in October.

Sincerely, Judy Gysin

A message from the Professional Development Committee

This month we are fortunate to welcome Mike Erdmann, Chief Executive Officer, of the Marion & Polk County Home Builders Association (HBA) at our general membership meeting on October 14th (8:30-10am). Mike will be speaking on the state of the construction industry and subdivisions. Mike is a great speaker and we are thankful he is willing to present again to MVAR! His presentation last year was very insightful on the upcoming residential development for our area.

Watch your emails for the class registration for Code of Ethics offered on October 28th (9:00am-Noon). This course will be presented by Deb Nolan with Better Homes and Gardens out of Clackamas. This is a great time to double check your continuing education form to confirm you aren’t due for the Code of Ethics course. The Code of Ethics course is a requirement to be completed every three years for your REALTOR® membership, previously it was required every two years.

A special thank you for the continued involvement to the MVAR members that make up the professional development committee - Judy Gysin, Deanna Gwen, Gary Bauer, Traci Benjamin, Tracey Sherrell, Heidi Hazel and Jean Wheat-Palm! The committee organizes continuing education opportunities for members at general membership meetings, risk advisories and education seminars. As a group we brainstorm topics, connect with the community to confirm speakers, and follow up to insure we are providing valuable professional growth to our fellow REALTORS®. If you are thinking ahead of a way to be more involved in 2021, consider this committee! It’s a great way to be involved and network with your real estate peers.

As always, please feel welcome to reach out to the MVAR office or to me directly with any continuing education topics you would like to see offered in the coming year.
