West Nile virus detected in Alameda County



Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District was invited to conduct a long form interview about West Nile virus, after the first detection of WNV in a bird in Alameda County. 

Hantavirus Outreach Materials Available



The MVCAC PR Committee created a hantavirus fact sheet and social media carousel to educate residents throughout the state on hantavirus. Districts can use the materials as needed with their residents. 

Tick bites surge, sending many to ER. Maps show where.


As temperatures climb, ER visits for tick bites surge. Cases reach highest levels in 10 years, according to CDC data.

West Nile Virus Detected Early In Pico Rivera, Long Beach Mosquito Samples



The first West Nile virus activity of 2026 has been detected in Los Angeles County after mosquito samples collected in Pico Rivera and Long Beach tested positive for the virus, according to the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District.
