In This Issue

MVCAC Members,

We're writing to relay the unfortunate news that some of your fellow members have lost their homes during the Camp Fire. The good news is, Matt Ball, Manager of Butte County MVCD, Chris Ocegueda, Vector Ecologist/Fish Biologist at Butte County MVCD, and their families are safe in temporary housing and their immediate needs have been met. The bad news is, their homes are total losses.

We want to help Matt, Chris, and any of our other members in any way we can - whether it be through donations of gift cards (cash gift cards (Visa, AMEX, MC types), Bel Air, Raleys, Safeway, Costco, or Amazon, Kohl's, Walmart, Target etc), OR cash/credit card donations can be sent directly to MVCAC who will then disperse them to the members directly. Notes of encouragement will also be relayed.

At this time, we are monitoring to see if we have other members who are affected by this tragedy(along with the Southern California fires) and do ask you to  let us know if you are aware of others .

If you would like to mail in your donations or notes of encouragement please send to:
MVCAC
Attn: Rachel Hickerson Assistant Executive Director

We have set up online donations through our member portal via the "Donate Online" button below. You are also welcome to call Rachel or Evan at the MVCAC Office with donations over the phone: 916-440-0826. In addition, we have a  donation form  that can be printed and sent to Rachel or Evan.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

Sincerely,
The MVCAC Staff

CDPH Culex kdr resistance testing program for 2019 - district interest?

To: Local Vector Control Agencies

As you may recall, in 2014 CDPH-VBDS initiated a program to test   Culex pipiens  and   Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes for   kdr-mediated pyrethroid resistance. The purpose of the program was to provide resistance profiles of local mosquito populations to help vector control agencies make informed decisions with regard to adulticide selection when needed.  In December 2016, the   Culex kdr  program was discontinued due to the decreasing number of submitted samples.

VBDS was recently approached by local vector control agencies inquiring about the potential for reinstating the   Culex kdr testing program. Testing would be fee-based at $10 per mosquito.

Please contact me if your agency would be interested in participating in such a program. My contact information is below. Thank you!
