FFA Charity Auction Scheduled
The MVCTC FFA Chapter is proud to host the 44th Annual Ronald McDonald House Charity Auction on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM on the MVCTC Campus. This event supports the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton (RMHC Dayton) by raising funds to benefit families in need of care and comfort during challenging times.

High School Duo Wins Cybersecurity Competition
MVCTC students Lincoln Bentley (Computer Networking & Cybersecurity / Miamisburg) and Jacob Strickland (Computer Networking & Cybersecurity / Vandalia-Butler) recently took first place in the Red Team/Hacking Competition at the Go Cyber Collective: Capture the Flag (CTF) event, outperforming 118 teams, including college teams from Sinclair College, Wright State University, and Cedarville University. Their success highlights the strength of MVCTC’s Networking and Cybersecurity program, showcasing their ability to solve complex cybersecurity challenges in a real-world setting. Congratulations to Lincoln and Jacob for their impressive achievement!

Construction Students Build Pump Station Enclosure for Golf Course
Construction Carpentry students, under instructor Kelly Kramer's direction, have been working to construct a pump station enclosure for the Meadowbrook at Clayton Golf Course. This partnership allows students to gain hands-on experience while giving back to the community.
In November, the class reached a major milestone by completing the enclosure's roof. Meadowbrook at Clayton expressed gratitude for the students’ dedication and expertise.

Criminal Justice Students Honor Veterans at Community Lunch
MVCTC Criminal Justice students demonstrated community spirit by attending a Veteran’s Day lunch at Rob’s Restaurant. The students assisted in serving meals to local veterans, warmly welcoming them, preparing plates, and listening to their inspiring stories.

Record Breaking Blood Drive Hosted By MVCTC HOSA
The MVCTC HOSA chapter hosted its first blood drive of the school year on Tuesday, November 26. A record-breaking turnout was achieved, with 201 staff and students donating—a remarkable 119% increase from the previous drive. Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, highlighting the critical role this effort plays in supporting the community. With two more blood drives planned this year, the impact of these collective efforts will continue to grow.

As the semester ends on December 19, MVCTC school counselors are helping students stay on track for graduation and encouraging seniors to complete their OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal forms by the deadline. State testing will occur December 9-13, and students will receive testing details via email. Sophomore Career Days (December 3-5) offer job shadowing and college visit opportunities, and Sinclair College will host campus tours for MVCTC students. In November 2024, MVCTC Satellite Programs showcased creativity, innovation, and community spirit through diverse educational activities:
- Eaton-MVCTC PLTW Middle School: Students designed and programmed mini-rovers with advanced features, such as sensor-based obstacle avoidance, to navigate complex tracks.
- Eaton-MVCTC Engineering Club: Honored veterans. Students designed and 3D-printed custom lapel pins distributed at a Veterans' Day breakfast and assembly.
- Milton-Union-MVCTC Business Program: Students applied entrepreneurial skills to manage a merchandising business, creating items for school events and local clubs.
- Milton-Union-MVCTC IT Program: Senior Carson Lavy presented an insightful Tech Talk on AI’s impact on Major League Baseball, highlighting its role in improving strike zone accuracy. Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC BPA: Business students excelled in entrepreneurship by producing and selling yard signs, t-shirts, and crewnecks, applying marketing and customer service skills to build school pride.
- National Trail-MVCTC Project Lead the Way (PLTW): The Advanced VEX Robotics curriculum enabled students to program sensor-based elevator doors, showcasing cutting-edge technology skills.
- Northridge-MVCTC Health Careers: Students gained hands-on experience at a Surgical Symposium, simulating surgical procedures with tools like a urology scope.
- Vandalia-Butler-MVCTC Morton Middle School: Eighth-grade Robotics students excelled in engineering by optimizing gear ratios in their dragster project, balancing speed and torque for enhanced performance.
- Vandalia-Butler-MVCTC STEM Program: Students tackled a Hurricane Helene simulation and engineering zipline solutions to deliver supplies to isolated communities.
These initiatives reflect MVCTC’s commitment to fostering real-world skills and innovative thinking among its students while contributing to their local communities.

Adult Education Celebrates Completion of Dental Assisting Program
Twelve dedicated students recently completed the Adult Education Dental Assisting program at MVCTC under the guidance of instructor Holly Nelson. The intensive three-month program combined classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and valuable externship training, preparing students for success in the dental field. Many program participants have already secured employment with the dental offices where they completed their clinical training. Graduates earned three essential credentials:
- CPR certification
- Radiography certification
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification

Aspire Launches Food Handling Program for ESOL Students
MVCTC Aspire has introduced an innovative Food Handling Integrated Education and Training (IET) program for ESOL students. The program combines English language learning with certification training for food service careers. It blends online learning with hands-on instruction, preparing students for success in the workforce.

MVCTC Aspire will offer free career training classes between January and March 2025. Programs include Certified Manufacturing Associate, Culinary Operations, and Hospitality and Tourism. Classes provide hands-on training, industry certifications, and the skills needed for high-demand careers.
