With the quarter 2 midterm (Nov 15) quickly approaching and fall break on the horizon, school counselors are in full gear with college planning and applications, preparing students for FAFSA (Dec 1), ASVAB (Nov 12), CCP/second-semester scheduling, and working with seniors to complete their OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal.
The school counselors have instituted a “Tech Care Tuesday” series that is shared with students every Tuesday and highlights a specific topic of focus. They have also created an “Ohio College Spotlight” series that highlights an Ohio-based college/university each day based on student interest surveys. All of this information and much more is also shared with parents through our new MVCTC Parents Google Classroom.
Throughout November, MVCTC school counselors will continue to focus on career and college planning and important social, emotional, and mental health topics. MVCTC school counselors have provided students with information and resources through presentations, handouts, and discussions via email, Google Classroom, lunch setups, classroom, and individual meetings.
In November, we will pay special attention to our military families in recognition of Veteran’s Day and Veterans & Military Families Month. We will honor all veterans, active-duty service members, and future enlistees. If you or a family member would like to participate in our “Military Spotlight,” please email akurtz@mvctc.com or twoodall@mvctc.com for more information.
