MVConnect from the City of Mill Valley
July 21, 2022
Celebrate National Night Out with MVPD on Tuesday 8/2/2022!
The Mill Valley Police Department is inviting you to join us on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, for National Night Out at Depot Plaza in downtown Mill Valley. The event will take place from 5-7 PM.

National Night Out was initially created as an opportunity for law enforcement to connect with the community they serve. Mill Valley has expanded this concept, crafting it as an opportunity for local government and community-oriented organizations to make connections within our city. This is an event for you to interact with fellow community members, other City departments, and organizations. There will be food, games, prizes, and conversation. For additional details or clarification on the event CSO Rebecca Camacho at rcamacho@cityofmillvalley.org.
“Soft Story” Mitigation Program
In an earthquake, "Soft Story" apartments and condominiums are most susceptible to shaking damage. Soft Story structures are typically residential buildings with open parking or commercial space on the first floor and housing on higher floors. Work is currently underway on a proposed Soft Story Retrofit Program in Mill Valley, with an objective to protect existing housing stock in the community.

On July 18, 2022, Council received an informational presentation on the purpose of the proposed Soft Story program, the status of the program's development and an update on next steps, which includes outreach to property owners.

East Blithedale Project Update
Work is ongoing to rehabilitate the roadway and give the community a better driving surface. Work is nearing completion to repair the aging sewer system to provide better sewage flows for residences and businesses. Check out the latest news on the project.

The Mill Valley Housing Element Update will serve as the City’s housing plan for the next 8 years (2023-2031). Your input is important to help assess the community’s housing needs, identify housing strategies to meet the City’s housing goals, and develop policy and resource priorities.

This is the first public review draft available for public comment through the end of the day Saturday, July 30, 2022. When reviewing the document, please consider what Mill Valley’s housing needs are (Chapter 2), the City’s resources (Chapter 3) and whether the housing programs (Chapter 4) are sufficient to meet the City’s housing needs.
