City Officials Test Google Modeling of Evacuation Timing with Successful Evacuation Drill
The City of Mill Valley conducted its Annual Evacuation Drill on Saturday, September 25 with hundreds of residents participating.

“We want to thank everyone that participated in the drill,” Mayor McCauley said. “The fact that we had over 250 community members willing to give up a beautiful fall morning to intentionally sit in traffic is a sign of how engaged and dedicated our community members are to safety and emergency preparedness.” Read about the drill.

Downtown Demonstration Project - As part of the Downtown Project, the City will be testing temporary traffic changes at two intersections to evaluate their potential for improving safety. We want your feedback! Take part in the survey.

East Blithedale Project Update - Night Work - To ease traffic congestion and expedite completion of construction, Argonaut Constructors will perform roadway construction work between 7 PM and 6 AM (Sunday through Thursday).

Mill Valley/Sausalito Pathway Resurfacing - The paved mutli-use path from Almonte Boulevard to Gate 6 Road is undergoing surface treatment for preventative maintenance. Construction crews are scheduled to begin the first week of October and are expected to take three to four weeks during daytime hours.
Parks and Recreation Commission Vacancy - Application Deadline Extended
If you have an interest in serving your community, applying for a position on a city board, commission or committee is a great place to start! The Mill Valley City Council is seeking to fill an unscheduled vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The term will run from the date of appointment to February 28, 2023. Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination Virtual Forums Announced - The Marin County Office of Education will be hosting two forums on Zoom to address the topic of pediatric vaccinations.

Criteria Issued for Lifting COVID-19 Indoor Masking Requirements - As decisions to vaccinate and wear face coverings indoors drive down COVID-19 case rates and hospitalizations, Health officers for the nine Bay Area jurisdictions that require face coverings in most indoor public spaces today reached consensus on criteria to lift those health orders and allow jurisdictions to set those requirements independently.

Eviction Moratorium Winds Down but Rental Assistance Continues - Some temporary protections for renters during the COVID-19 pandemic will remain after the end of the statewide eviction moratorium, and the County of Marin is continuing to assist tenants with rental assistance.

On September 23 on Children’s Islands at the Marin Center in San Rafael, more than two dozen people were honored by the Bank of Marin for their “tireless efforts in support of our community” at the 2021 Spirit of Marin Awards, including Mill Valley City Manager Alan Piombo.

New Water Use Limits and Penalties
To encourage water conservation, Marin Water established limits on water use for single-family and dedicated irrigation meter customers. The water use limits and penalties will be applied to water use beginning December 1.

A couple of weeks ago Friends of SLPs embarked on Phase 1 of a multi-phase project helping the City rebuild SLP69 between Hillside and Oakdale. This Saturday the group will continue their work.
