Children's Advocacy Center waiting room has blankets and toys available for their clients.
Linda, a volunteer at the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) in Covina, California, shared this story with us. The CAC is one of the agencies nationwide that receives donations of MVOB blankets.
"At the CAC, we conduct forensic interviews with children, teens, and adults with disabilities who have been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused. The typical story we hear from the clients we serve is that they are nervous and uncomfortable coming for an interview but always leave with a big smile on their faces, especially after receiving one of the blankets that have been generously donated to the CAC.
One 7-year-old girl named “Sarah” was a witness to domestic violence." Read more

MVOB recently welcomed Nancy Kaufmann to the staff position of Assistant to Jessica Rudolph.
Nancy first learned about My Very Own Blanket in 2017 when she was invited to a blanket making party. Nancy was inspired by the mission which resonated with her deep caring for children, and she has been making and donating blankets ever since!
Nancy’s career path has included being a teacher of young children, working with the Education Policy team in the Ohio governor’s office, and co-founding and leading a nonprofit organization for multiple myeloma cancer research. Her volunteer work has been all about children while volunteering as an educator at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and in public schools helping children learn to read.
She believes deeply in the mission of My Very Own Blanket and is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of bringing love, comfort and security to children and teens in the foster care system and in need.

100 Women Who Care Supports MVOB
The Columbus Metro chapter of 100 Women Who Care chose to support My Very Own Blanket at their February 2024 meeting. The organization’s mission is to help their community by combining their donation power to support local non-profits, such as MVOB, thus making a larger impact.
We are very grateful to report that the group’s donations totaled more than $8,400! 100 Women Who Care will indeed make a substantial impact on the lives of children and teens in foster care and in need.

Miriam chose to do her American Heritage Girls Harriet Tubman Level Award service project with MVOB benefitting The Call of NWA (Northwest Arkansas), a non-profit that mobilizes local churches to serve local children and youth placed in foster care.
Her mother Amy told us, "Miriam raised enough funds to make 34 blankets and organized a blanket making party for our troop. She dropped off the completed blankets to The Call."
We are blessed by Miriam's efforts on behalf of children in foster care in her Arkansas community.

Thanks to Lyndsee for sharing her daughter Kynzlee's story with us! We love hearing about children helping other children.
"My daughter, age 7, made her first quilt when she was 5, so when we heard about your organization it was definitely something she/we wanted to help with. She is also Royal International Miss Arkansas. The plan is to help make an even bigger impact for MVOB!
I appreciate you allowing her to be a part of your mission. We are excited to give 104 blankets to children living in foster care."
