MVRPC's Top Accomplishments in 2024

A Year of Collaboration, Innovation, and Impact

US 35 and Woodman Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Each year, I compile a list of MVRPC's Top 10 Accomplishments, and 2024 was no exception. Narrowing it down is always a challenge because our staff achieves so much. Here’s a look back at an extraordinary year of growth and progress for the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.

Regional collaboration remains at the heart of everything we do, and I want to thank our members, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support. I also extend my appreciation to our Officers and our Chairperson for their leadership throughout the year. Your collective efforts have been instrumental in advancing the Miami Valley region.

1. Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO) Steering Committee and Plan Adoption

RTPO Meeting Preble County May 2024

We began the year with updates to our Agency Constitution and Bylaws, laying the groundwork for the creation of the RTPO Steering Committee. By June, we celebrated the adoption of the first RTPO Plan. The culmination of these efforts came on December 18, 2024, when Ohio Governor Mike DeWine formally designated MVRPC’s Rural Member Policy Board as an Ohio Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO). Known informally as the Darke-Preble-Shelby RTPO (DPS), this designation reinforces our commitment to advancing transportation planning and partnerships that benefit both ODOT and our member governments. 2. Expanding the Miami Valley Age-Friendly Communities

Miami Valley Age-Friendly

MVRPC continued to prioritize livable communities by securing funding for Age-Friendly grants and adding new communities. This year, we proudly welcomed Trotwood, Beavercreek city, and Beavercreek township to the Age-Friendly Miami Valley initiative, enhancing support for our region’s aging population.

3. A New Era at 6 North Main Street

Our office move to 6 North Main Street symbolizes our growth and progress. This move will provide a modern, collaborative space for us to better serve the Miami Valley community.

4. Past Meets Present: MVRPC Executive Directors Connect

On June 26, 2024, I had the honor of meeting Dale Bertsch, the first Executive Director of MVRPC. This historic encounter allowed me to reflect on our agency’s rich history and legacy while sharing personal stories and insights.

The August Executive Director's Update featured the story about the visit.

  • Attending community events such as the UD Friends of Government gathering, the Greene County Townships Holiday Dinner, and the Greater Dayton Mayors and Managers Holiday Party
