MVRPC Welcomes New Regional Equity Initiative Program Manager
|
|
We are pleased to introduce to you our Regional Equity Initiative Program Manager. Mr. Fabrice Juin is our second leader for the important work of this position. He brings to MVRPC a public health background while working for Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County. While there, he was a project manager focused on minority health initiatives. Prior to PHDMC, Fabrice worked at the University of Cincinnati in their Student Affairs Division providing multicultural services to the campus community. Fabrice also worked at New York University following him receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Global Public Health and Anthropology. Fabrice is a graduate of the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University through their Master of Public Health program, with a Population Health Concentration. And just this past month, he became credentialed as Certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
Fabrice and his wife Deanna plan to move to the Miami Valley by the end of the month. He has hit the ground running and he clearly has a sense of vision and passion for the work. We look forward to his future accomplishments and we wish Fabrice well in leading our Regional Equity Initiative and assisting with pushing ahead our Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities, coordinating our Title VI administration and other assigned agency work.
Fabrice will serve as the lead staff for the Regional Equity Initiative, a committee of approximately 20 community and regional leadership organizations. He will support the meeting content for the Institute Steering Committee. He will also focus on serving our MVRPC member communities to ensure that MVRPC remains a resource for them to their diversity, equity, and inclusion citizen and staff committees started previously. He will also help us ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion in all MVRPC actions as documented in the agency’s resolution adopted by the Board of Directors in October 2020.
The recent article in Saturday’s Dayton Daily News summarizes much of the work that has occurred prior to Fabrice’s arrival. We are thankful to have a strong foundation in the work from which Fabrice can lead us in ensuring all Miami Valley residents have access to the tremendous opportunities flowing throughout our region.

The center will offer certification and credentialing workshops, and undergraduate programs in the areas of advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, information technology and advanced data management. The MVRPC team worked very closely with CSU leadership over the course of 18 months to prepare the funding proposal, made possible by ARPA.
Technical Assistance for EDA proposals is a member service we provide as we expand our planning role through our forthcoming designation as the lead agency for a new Economic Development District to serve our region.

RETREET - Miami Valley TREEcovery Campaign Update
|
|
On Saturday, April 30, 2022, the RETREET program, part of Keep America Beautiful, led a coalition of local, regional, and national partners in planting more than 150 8=10' tall trees, free of charge, at the homes of families in Brookville, Perry Township, Clayton, Vandalia, Butler Township, and Trotwood who were affected by the Memorial Day 2019 tornados, in partnership with Keep Ohio Beautiful, Keep Montgomery County Beautiful, and Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.
In order to help prepare for the tree plantings in our MVPRC member communities, members of the MVRPC staff volunteered the day prior to the event to prepare tools and supplies, and to deliver trees and mulch to home sites throughout the region. The next tree planting for tornado survivors will take place this fall. To learn more and to support this critical disaster recovery project, please visit www.retreet.org/mvtc .
