In Memoriam for Dr. William O. Smith, DVM
We at the MVVMA extend our sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of MVVMA life-time member Dr. William O. Smith on his passing on June 18, 2017. Dr. Smith graduated from Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine and began practicing in 1956. William proudly served 8 years in the Army Reserves. achieving Captain ranking. He was the founder and former co-owner with his partner, Joe T. Fergus DVM of Gettysburg Animal Clinic, N. Main Animal Clinic, and Clayton Animal Hospital. He retired in 1998 after 43 years of practicing.
William was a member and served as President of the Dayton Veterinary Medical Association, was a lifetime member of the MVVMA, was active in Educational Concerns for World Hunger, Fort Myers, FL and a longtime member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton. He volunteered at Aullwood Audubon Nature Center treating injured animals. William was a co-founder of OKONTOE, a family Christian campground in Minnesota.
William is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Christine (Claunch); daughter Teri (Mark) Young; sons Alan (Cynthia) Smith and Douglas (Lori) Smith; 4 grandchildren Chandler, Nicole, Natalie and Brandon; many loving family and friends. The MVVMA has provided a $100.00 donation in his memory to the Aullwood Audubon Center.

Part-time position open for experienced veterinarian. Must be proficient in surgery as well as clinical medicine. Work three days a week from 8am-6:30pm and every other Saturday from 8am-12pm. After hour emergencies are covered by MedVet. We are an established (39 years), busy, well-equipped companion animal hospital located in Huber Heights, Ohio.
