About Dr. Bapodra: Dr. Bapodra has worked with the Columbus Zoo as a Senior Veterinarian since 2012. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in the UK in 2006, and obtained a MSc in Wild Animal Health from the RVC and Zoological Society of London in 2008. Dr. Bapodra completed an ACZM accredited residency in Conservation Medicine at the Wilds in southeastern Ohio, became an ACZM diplomate in 2016 and is an RCVS Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. In addition, Dr. Bapodra is the AZA Bonobo Species Survival Plan Veterinary Advisor and serves as the Chair of the Research Committee of the Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus Virus Advisory Group, and of the Executive Committee of the Great Ape Heart Project. Dr. Bapodra particularly values the experience received from her fieldwork in areas of conservation and zoo medicine, such as performing ultrasound on Asian elephant eyes in Sri Lanka,and helping with endangered giraffe translocations in Uganda.
