Happy MWBE Monday Aero-Ba-Soul, Inc. Family,

I hope that everyone had a safe weekend and spent some downtime relaxing with family and friends! I was blessed to spend time with my parents and celebrate my mother’s birthday.

Here’s my favorite picture of mom taken a few years ago.
I am because of them! They rooted me with faith, love, family, attention, affection, history, community, activism and freedom, allowing me to grow from a free-spirited, curious young girl who loved to read books, math and science, to a woman with vision. I thank them for my life, their love and sacrifices which has allowed me to live my life every day with purpose. It is an honor and privilege for me to be there for them during their retirement years.
In case you didn’t know, NYC’s Department of Small Business Services (SBS) has a new Commissioner. His name is Jonnel Doris.
Jonnel was appointed by Mayor de Blasio as the Commissioner for the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS). He is responsible for running a dynamic City agency focused on equity of opportunity, that leads to economic self-sufficiency and mobility for New York City’s diverse communities. SBS actively connects New Yorkers to good jobs, creates stronger businesses, and builds a thriving economy in neighborhoods across the five boroughs. Congratulations Jonnel! The MWBE community looks forward to working with you and your team as you continue to advocate and prepare MWBE’s for government procurement opportunities!

Read more about Jonnel’s recent appointment in one of my favorite MWBE-owned publications, Harlem Community News .

Every year I look forward to HCN’s annual Uptown Women Business Owners Issue . I was excited to be featured along with so many other MWBEs in their 2019 issue! As a young girl, I spent many summers in Harlem with my paternal grandmother and aunt. Today, I take great pride in providing technical assistance to various MWBEs, assisting them get MWBE Certified, reviewing RFP’s, and or connecting them with resources to grow their businesses.

You can get a glimpse of the Women’s History Month program and the 2019 Annual Uptown Women’s Business Owners Issue narrated by HCN Owner and Publisher Pat Stevenson via this video . It’s a great networking event.
