Spring is in the air!

We hope that everyone had a great Easter weekend! Many families celebrated spring break by taking a quick get-away somewhere or staying local for a “staycation”! It was a much needed break from juggling parenthood and virtual/hybrid school of children. Kecia and Kevin, co-owners of Aero-Ba-Soul, Inc. definitely can relate to what so many parents are doing to adjust to helping our children “adjust” to schooling during this global pandemic, getting educated about the vaccinations, supporting minority and women owned businesses repivot and rebrand, etc. Hang in there! Our children are our future. Breathe!
Love, affection and attention go a long way!
Arm yourselves and your children daily with positive thinking and a “can do” attitude.

Our friend, and CEO of The Black Diamonds Academic Success Program always says that our son Kendall’s name is “Ken-do” since he has a “can do” attitude. Kendall is President of The Black Diamonds Academic Success Program, an organization was launched for the sole purpose of fighting the achievement gap and helping young men of color graduate from high school on time. This program primarily addresses three critical areas in order to be effective in our quest to close the achievement gap: attendance, homework and behavior. Their mission is to mentor young men of color to become high achieving students who are well prepared and ready for life after High School.

To date, Kendall has been granted acceptance to:
  • Florida A&M University
  • Hampton University
  • Howard University
  • Morehouse College
  • Syracuse University
  • Temple University
  • University of Buffalo

He plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering! His goal is to design and create equipment focused on improving the ability for NFL athletes to be safer and protected on the field.

Kyle is the Vice President of The Black DiamondsWe truly appreciate role models like Martin who care so much and are so much to help our boys on their journey to becoming confident young men.
Our sons, Kendall and Kyle, and the other brilliant young men of The Black Diamonds Academic Success Program recently recognized a few dynamic women of Peekskill that give of themselves every day to better the community in which they live, work and play. This beautiful, intimate event was held at The City of Peekskill Youth Bureau. Executive Director Tuesday McDonald leads and ensures that quality programming is provided weekly to the youth that
are serviced by the Peekskill Youth Bureau.

Congratulations to Peekskill High School Assistant Principals Dr. Jenna Ferris, Dr. Margie Daniels, Peekskill Youth Bureau Executive Director Tuesday McDonald, Peekskill NAACP Valerie Eaton, Entrepreneur Extraordinaire CEO/Owner of Little Kings & Queens Day Care Joan Battle King and Aero-Ba-Soul, Inc.’s CEO and Co-owner Kecia Palmer-Cousins! Kecia was truly grateful and a proud mama, fighting back tears as she received her award from her sons, Kendall and Kyle, her heart and soul. Both first attended The Peekskill Youth Bureau when they were 10 ½ years old and have completed many community service hours at this great youth focused organization throughout the years. Kecia serves as VP and Dr. Jenna serve as VP and President of The Peekskill Youth Bureau Board respectively.
Football was in the air too this past weekend.

The Peekskill HS Red Devils Varsity Football team was finally able to play under the big lights at night!

On Saturday evening, Peekskill HS’s Varsity Football team including our sons Kendall  (#75 - Captain and Center/Defensive End) and Kyle (#18 Fullback and Middle Line Backer) won their 2nd game of the season. 34-14! A home game against Ramapo.

Kendall motivated and encouraged the team to do their best, led the team with numerous tackles and sacks as they won their 1st victory on their new football field. Congratulations to Kendall for being a leader, playing defense and offense non-stop with barely a minute’s rest. His Co-Captain played a great game and made a key touchdown.

Our son Kyle’s touchdown during the game was the Peekskill Athletic Department choice for PLAY OF THE WEEK”. It has been viewed over 3,000 times since that night. Congratulations to Kyle on a job well done!

Kyle’s TD was also mentioned in today’s Lo Hud (Varsity Insider) along with his fellow teammates who also had touchdowns and great stats during that game. Way to go Kyle!

The Peekskill HS Cheerleader’s led by Captain Kya Jackson were energetic and dedicated as they braved the cold to keep the Peekskill HS football team and the fans pumped up throughout the game. Thanks Kya and cheerleaders for your support!

It was “Senior Night” at Saturday Night Lights. The Senior football players, cheerleaders and their parents were honored on the field during a ceremony prior to the game.

Special thanks again to the Peekskill City School District Board of Education, Trustees and Peekskill High School Superintendent Of Schools Dr. Mauricio who listened to Kendall, Kyle and the members of the Peekskill Varsity High School Football team last year as they advocated before the Peekskill Board of Education last year for a new Football field. The Board of Education Trustees and The Superintendent of Schools David Mauricio (who attended the game) were Thank for their continued support of the our sports program. The new turf is great! The youths field of dreams came true with funding was approved for our new football field. Advocacy does matter!

Last night’s game was the 1st game that the team played at night under the lights. Saturday Night Lights. Due to the global pandemic, only immediate family and friends could attend the game. However, due to Local Live (Peekskill CSD Steaming), we were able to share the link with our family members in Arizona, California, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina and Wisconsin and more watched the game and shared in the excitement with us via Group texts.

Please keep Kendall, Kyle and their teammates in your prayers as they participate this football season during this global pandemic. This weekend, Epsom salt and sleep were their best friends!
Show your support and encouragement for our Peekskill HS Red Devils Varsity Football Team by watching, sharing and retweeting Kyle Play of the Week, i.e. “determined and can-do”, phenomenal touchdown!

Also, please vote for, share and retweet his amazing teammate Jayson Tinsley for Player of the Week!
Now that you’re pumped up and ready to go, let’s focus on
