BLACK WOMEN IN FOOD SUMMIT | |
Kecia had a blast on April 22, 2023 in Washington, DC networking and connecting with many black women business owners at the 1st annual The Black Women in Food Summit. This fun-filled, informative, engaging, inspiring and empowering, sisterly event provided a space for Black Women across the food and beverage industry to connect, learn and find opportunities for personal and professional growth.

|
Congratulations and thanks to visionary entrepreneurs Maame Boakye, President and Co-Founder of Dine Diaspora that produces the Black Women in Food Initiative and Nina Oduro, CEO and Co-founder Of Dine Diaspora and Co-founder of Black Women in Food Summit for producing this historical event. The first of many for years to come!
Panel and Plenary Speakers included many dynamic, successful, empowered black women business owners and entrepreneurs such as Fawn Weaver (CEO/Founder of Grant Sidney, Inc. and CEO/founder of Uncle Nearest, Inc. (produces of Uncle Nearest premium whiskey), Chef Carla Hall (Author, TV Personality, formerly of Top Chef and The Chew), Auzerais Bellamy (CEO/Founder of The Blondery and a proud client of Aero-Ba-Soul, Inc.).

Black Woman...I salute you. Your Fight, your Strength, and your Love...Keep making history!”
— Dr. Cassandra Parks Evans
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, March 31, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — It is generally known that black is an imposing color, symbolizing authority and submission and, combined with the luxurious beauty of the Orchid, the Black Orchid came to symbolize great power. We know that there is no World history or American history without including Black Women’s history. For far too long, black women and women of color were omitted from fully participating in our society and respected for vital and other unnamed contributions to the world.
Founder and creator from Atlanta, Georgia Sha Battle, declared in early 2016 that the entire month of April would be the observance of Black Women’s History Month. It was created to embrace achievements, build understanding and awareness, and to celebrate the rich history of the past, present and future generations of not only Black Women but Minority Women who are the Descendants of Africa and the African Diaspora. Black Women’s History Month is about unifying the community by promoting visibility, education, Empowerment, contribution and achievement which positively impacts communities across the globe. www.blackwomenshistorymonth.com
April is International Black Women's History Month, because Black Women’s History Matters!

Special loving thanks to Kecia and Kevin’s Mothers, the beloved, late entrepreneur and geriatric health care professional Obie Mae Palmer and beloved, NYS Majority Leader of the State Senate Andrea Stewart-Cousins,
who are were and are our Black Herstory sheroes! We thank and love you both for pouring into us the importance of learning about and supporting Black Women who have made or are making history every day!
Obie Palmer was Kecia’s mother, the wind beneath her wings, a nurses aid for over 40 years and entrepreneur (operated a homebased day care center, was a “geriatric sitter”).
Andrea Stewart-Cousins is the first Black woman to serve as the New York lieutenant governor in an acting capacity. She is the first woman in the history of New York State to lead a conference in the New York State Legislature and is also the first female Senate Majority Leader in New York history.
