COVID-19 - Updated FAQS
From tonight at 6pm tonight (Friday 4th December 2020)

  • People living in Tier 1 & 2 in England will be allowed to travel into Wales and stay overnight, although this is 'legally' allowed this is being strongly discouraged by the Welsh Government.

  • People living in high incident areas (Tier 3 in England & Tier 4 & 5 in Scotland) will not be able to travel into Wales. Northern Ireland are currently in a national lockdown.

  • All bars and restaurants are to close form 6pm tonight but room service is available in hotels up until 10pm

  • The next review will take place o the 17th December 2020 but unless the infection rates in Wales reduce significantly over the next 3 week period we do not anticipate many changes.

Self Catering accommodation
The currently WG regulations state that only members of a single household can stay in self catering holiday accommodation.

Unless the regulations in Wales change from only 'single households are currently able to stay in self catering accommodation', multiple households will be unable to stay together in self catering accommodation.

The Welsh Government have NOT announced any change to this Regulation - ie an increase in the number of households which can 'bubble together over Christmas - will not apply people wishing to book accommodation over this period.

We're urgently seeking clarification over New Year.

Letter to the First Minister of Wales
Today, MWT has sent a letter to the First Minister of Wales on behalf of MWT members addressing a number of issues which have arisen over the last week.

To date businesses have been largely supportive of the Welsh Government's approach and understand the need to put public health first. We are however extremely disappointed that WG measures announced this week have forced the closure of many of our hotels and attractions for the next few months.

We have stressed the long term effect on the tourism sector that will arise as a result of a prolonged closedown of our sector on our businesses and communities as well as potential reputational damage in the longer term.
