MWT Members' Meeting: 17th May
Register for our online Members' Meeting on Tuesday 17th May, 11am

Member meetings are a great way to catch up with the MWT Cymru team and your fellow members, discuss the topics most important to you and hear from guest speakers. All meetings last approximately an hour and all members are welcome to attend.

On 17th May we'll be joined by Chris Bason, Head of Business Unit for hospitality at Cambrian Training Company for an introduction to the Hospitality framework of apprenticeships (a guide to what is available and the sort of entry requirements/levels these roles suit).

Chris will go into detail on Level 3 hospitality supervision and leadership, and pick out a key skill or set of skills with a couple of examples you can take away to share with your teams.
Corris Craft Centre Celebrates 40 years
To celebrate Corris Craft Centre's 40 years, MWT spoke to new owners Pete and Danny Cameron of award-winning Dyfi Distillery, to find out more about them and their plans for the independent craft studios on the A487 between Machynlleth and Dolgellau in Mid Wales.

Hear how The Travel Trade can offer businesses a key opportunity for growth by opening up to new markets. Visit Wales has teamed up with Mike Newman of b2me Tourism Marketing Ltd to deliver a free training webinar, to outline the opportunities in working with the Travel Trade and highlight new trends that are emerging in the post COVID environment.

The online session will take place on 4 May from 3:30pm until 4:30 / 5:00pm and will run on Microsoft Teams.

The Real Social Network / Y Rhwdwaith Cymdeithasol Go Iawn
Transport for Wales have launched a new multimodal transport campaign – The Real Social Network - to convince people to choose public transport and to travel more sustainably when reconnecting with people, rediscovering places, and returning to work.

The toolkit provides you with everything you need to know about the campaign. The brand and rail marketing launched early April, with bus and active travel marketing launched on 25 April. The kit will give you the background, strategy, and context behind the campaign as well providing ready-made assets that you can use to support it, to get people thinking differently about public transport.

Coronavirus Latest
The legal requirement to wear face coverings in health and social care settings remains in place, but the legal requirement for businesses to undertake specific coronavirus risk assessments ended on Monday 18 April.

Businesses continue to be encouraged to take steps to operate in a Covid-safe manner.


The next 3-weekly review of coronavirus regulations will be carried out by 5 May.

Wales' tourism industry urges Welsh Government rethink on self-catering taxation plans

Tourism and hospitality organisations have offered the Welsh Government their expert insight to protect legitimate self-catering holiday businesses from unintended consequences of proposals to clamp down on second home ownership in Wales.
 
Wales Tourism Alliance (WTA), UK Hospitality Cymru (UKHC) and Professional Association of Self Caterers UK (PASC UK) are calling on the Welsh Government to heed new evidence collected in a survey of more than 1,500 self-catering businesses, across Wales.
